It had taken her days, or rather nights, to find any trace of Batman. Diana had begun to think her informants had been mistaken. The only evidence that kept her looking was how the drug dealers had been sidelined. It spoke of professionalism, not the untrained machinations of any police force, or passerby.
Oracle had also been searching for a thread, a sighting, anything they could pin their hopes upon. And yet they knew how slim that was. If Batman did not wish to be found, even they could not penetrate his concealment.
So, Diana had been reduced to searching from the air, the one place the Dark Knight could not control. This was her domain, now shared only with Kara since no other heroes had since joined them. Here, she had the smallest edge on Bruce....if indeed it was him.
When she finally spotted the cowl, the cape, Diana wanted to doubt her senses. Even though she'd been actively pursuing him, success had been a faint possibility at best. She'd started early tonight; the sun had barely dipped below the horizon. And the shadows from the caves tried to distort her vision. A bit hesitantly, she landed, not within reach of him but within earshot. The last thing she wanted to do was surprise him of all people.
As if I could, Diana thought, with a moment of ruefulness.
"Batman?" she spoke, quietly. And now, she couldn't keep the hope from her voice.
