She surprised him. That wasn't a common happening with Obi-Wan. He was usually very adept at determining what it was people were going to say or do. There were very few exceptions to that. But he hadn't expected her to be inquiring to him about a job. That and she knew what a lightsaber was. But perhaps she was just one of those holo-watchers. Either way, he had opened his mouth to say something, but in an attempt to retain his composure all that came out was--
"Coffee it is."
He motioned to a one of the chairs at his table, offering her a seat, though she was free to choose any table she wished, and then he walked across the room to the cafeteria style counter and poured two mugs of coffee. The tables already had little sugar and creamer packets sitting on them. It was actually a very pleasant setup for a shelter. Much better than some of the ones he'd seen in the Core during his training as a Padawan. Qui-Gon Jinn used to drag him along to charitable events every now and again, so that Obi-Wan could get a feeling for what it was like on the other side, so to speak. It had definitely been a learning experience.
Once he returned he set the mugs on the table and took a seat for himself.
"I'm afraid I am also just a ... volunteer. You'll have to speak to one of the Sisters about it, but they always seem to be looking for more help. They're hoping to acquire the building next door to organize better sleeping arrangements. And find a better selection for the menu. I'm sure they'd be delighted to hear of your interest. I don't know if you have to provide much though."
Obviously, Obi-Wan hadn't entirely figured out her intense interest in the shelter. He just gave her a smile and held out his hand to her in greeting.
"I'm Ben."
Although, he kind of wanted to ask her about this Wal-Mart place. And why she would think that it would sell Jedi weaponry. Such a curious place this Los Angeles.
