WHO: Jasper Hale, Alice Cullen
WHERE: Streets of L.A.
WHEN: June 1; night
WHAT: Jasper's arrival.
RATING: TBD
STATUS: in progress
Because there were two people ahead of him in the rental car line at the airport, Jasper decided to run. Though it would have only taken a few minutes for him to have his turn, he grew anxious in a matter of seconds, thinking about the time it would take even when he came to the head of the line to sign the paperwork and go to pick up the car and perhaps to even fuel it up, that he pivoted on his heels and ran. He was careful not to run too swiftly in the airport, knowing that that would draw unnecessary attention and detain him further, but once he was outdoors he used the speed that his vampire abilities had given him and raced in L.A's general direction. He would come up with some sort of game plan when he got there, he assured himself, and then he would find Alice.
Jasper didn't even really pay any attention to where he was gong, his sense of direction pointed him the right way,and that was all that mattered right now. His long, bounding strides were probably enough to make humans dizzy (if they could even see him at all) but to Jasper nothng was swift enough. Alice being missing for even a few hours was too much.
So lost in his thoughts, Jasper didn't notice any of the smaller signs that might signal that something was going on. No, he didn't decide that anything was amiss until he was still miles removed from LA one minute and there the next. Skidding to a halt, Jasper looked around, trying to figure out what was going on. He had been running swiftly, but there was no way that he had managed to run that quickly on his own. Slowly he turned around, looking for the cause of the abrupt movement or an explanation.
He was looking for something large and capable of detaining him so wholeheartedly that at first he almost overlooked his pixie leaning against the lamppost.
"Alice?" He gasped, taking one cautious step closer to her. He studied her for a moment, his smile widening as he assured himself that it was indeed his wife and not someone who was impersonating her. "Alice, where on earth have you been?" The strangeness of the way he had arrived so quickly in Los Angeles was forgotten now that she was here, because it didn't matter anymore how or why they were together (it never really did, because ever since Alice first saw her first vision of his face it was obvious that they were meant to be side by side) all that Jasper wanted to do was to find out the details of Alice's detainment, give out punishment to any offending parties who had kept her, and to get her home again.
"I was worried when you didn't call." At her side now, he took her hand in his, squeezing it gently. It was odd, how the simple act of holding her hand could be more intimate than even the most obnoxious public displays of affection. "I thought...." his jaw clenched, and he paused before repeating himself, not caring she had hardly had a chance to respond. "Where have you been, Alice?"
