Katara's laughter followed after him before she, too, was on the move. Rounding the side of the building she jumped nimbly off the cliff and landed on the surface of the water. A twist of her arm and it rose into the air, easily supporting her weight, and she directed it toward the building. She, too, had a brief thought that the building certainly seemed secure, but quickly cast it aside. So many things in this world baffled her that one more thing hardly seemed note-worthy.
Brilliant blue eyes narrowed in concentration, she hardened the water the moment it touched the building and stepped off onto the rocky ledge. There was a brief moment when she felt her balance shift and she very nearly fell backward, into the ocean, but managed to upright herself at the last second.
The water followed her as she went, her hand leaving a trail of ice in her wake alongside the outer wall of the building itself. Reaching the back entrance, she stepped inside and froze the doorway up behind her. She didn't want anyone in their panic to run out of it and fall into the unforgiving sea.
One young girl - likely around Katara's age - was huddled in the corner of the room she'd entered. Their eyes met briefly before the waterbender broke the uneasy silence. "This building isn't safe. Go, out the front. My friend is there. He'll help you."
Fortunately, the teenager decided not to argue and, with one more wide-eyed look at the doorway now blocked with solid ice, she scurried from the room and in the direction that Katara could only hope was actually the front of the building. She didn't have time to worry about that now, though. She was too busy summoning as much water to her side as she could through an open window and sending it shooting upward, toward the ceiling, to form large beams that ran from the top of the building to the bottom.
The back room is clear. She sent the thought to Peter as she moved into one of the narrow, winding corridors. A few minutes later, while passing a closet with a door that was broken and slightly ajar, she sent another thought his way. This one was laced with confusion.
