Could it be true? Alderaan? Destroyed? An entire planet?!
Obi-Wan had no reason to disbelieve her. He hardly doubted that Leia would fabricate the death of her home. It was her home, after all. Not her birth place, but the place where she was raised and cared for. Obi-Wan had confidence that Bail and his wife would have taken good care of her. And, judging by her appearance now, they had.
But destroyed?
Obi-Wan was glad that he hadn't lived to the point in his life wherein he would experience that sort of tragedy. The mere impact of that kind of massive destruction on the Force would have panged him dearly. And any other Jedi, for that matter.
"The Luke I am familiar with is still a small child. I doubt he knows me."
He might have known of Obi-Wan, simply from Owen's harsh ramblings about crazy old Ben. But it had been a long time since Obi-Wan had been near the young Skywalker boy. Owen didn't particularly care for having the Jedi around.
