Tonight seemed to be a night of many disruptions. Kitty Pryde had heard and felt the earth tremble beneath her feet earlier, but she had opted to remain within her room - not out of fear, but that she knew very well that others more experienced (in this world at least) were already handling whatever it was that had happened. However, a little later down the line, Kitty had heard something in the distance - something loud, like wood splintering under duress. And then, not even a few moments later, she heard another sound, which was coming from the room directly to the left of her own and she practically leaped off of the bed, but she wasted no time phasing through the wall to the left of her.
Kitty wasn't worried about exposure at the moment. No. No, she was more worried about the safety and well-being of the mother and child, of whom Peter Evans had made her in charge of - if 'something should happen.' No alarms had sounded, but she doubted that was the only requirement there needed to be when something so obviously wrong going on. And whether or not she could handle what was happening was moot at this point. She had given Peter her word.
As she solidified on the other side of the wall, a sight straight out of a B-rated movie met her eyes: a horrible, mangy beast loomed in the doorway of Claire and little Aaron's room, while Claire held the baby tightly to her chest. Of course, she already had a pretty good idea what the creature was, but there was no time to marvel at it or pinch herself to make sure what she was seeing was, indeed, real. Instead of doing that, Kitty rushed forward and she put herself right in front of Aaron and Claire - directly in the werewolf's line of sight and blocking them from view.
If Peter and Katara wanted to test her worth and see exactly what Shadowcat was made of, this was it. But, fortunately for them, Kitty had a plan.
