Angel looked down at the girl standing next to the man in the gas mask, who was looking to him almost apprehensively, before flickering his gaze back up. Mantis, the man deemed himself, and it took the vampire a few moments to remember speaking to him briefly over the message boards.
"Ahh, yes. I remember. You're the...uh, clarvoiyant fellow," he said with an smile, feeling as awkward as ever when it came to using his people skills. Especially when it involved using them against people he was pretty sure could read ever thought that was coursing through his mind at that very second. It made him feel a little uneasy.
He took a few steps forward, doing his best to appear as friendly as possible, though he was never really good with kids - his own son was a prime example of that. Even as an infant, Connor had proved to be quite the handful and Angel would've never pulled it off if it hadn't been for Cordelia.
"Hello Annie," he said, then looked back up to Mantis once more. "I proctect her--we can protect here. There are others living here who can contribute to that. She won't be harmed here."
