She agreed with him. She said she would go. Venom smiled at her, delighted with her choice and relieved that he wouldn’t need to struggle with her in order to take her back to the mansion and to Lex, who would be pleased with what he was about to bring back. Taking Chloe with him was turning out to be as easy as priorities came. He had been expecting an argument and watching her whip out a cell phone so that she could dial somebody at the Hyperion would not have surprised him. She was smart and Venom hoped that she was aware of what would become of the girl if she changed her mind, if she tried to call for help.
His normal clothing began to reappear, his navy blue blazer, his buttoned down shirt, all the things that made him blend in with normal society without having to struggle. From his back the dark tentacle-like strands swayed and quivered, pointed away from his body and then jumped back against him, becoming one with the blazer.
No longer looking like much of a monster, Eddie positioned himself beside her, satisfied and cordial. “My car’s nearby. I’ll drive you to the mansion and leave Lex a message, so that he knows to expect the both of us.”
