Oh? What was this? Youngish attractive blonde approaching the dignified albeit somewhat older doctor? She probably thought he was a crazy person. But that didn't matter because she was part of his hallucination. So why didn't she have Cuddy's cleavage, Cameron's sweet but persistent nature, and Wilson's marijuana my-excuse-is-that-they're-for-my-cancer-patients rolls? Obviously his subconscious was working against him. Apparently even he didn't like himself.
"Funny. I didn't expect to see anything. Because I didn't expect to visit California. I spent my travel budget on hookers."
What House had expected was to walk out of the elevator and have Foreman complain that some test was negative, Cameron whine that he wasn't being nicer to her, and Chase pretend to be all buddy-buddy with him (as suck-ups were opt to be.) Then he was going to go to lunch with Wilson. Hide a steak under a lot of lettuce so the hospital kitchen staff thought he was just ordering a salad. And then go off and play his gameboy and watch his soaps.
He gave the woman a longer once-over. Interesting.
"You can blow your smoke in another direction. I'm sort of attached to my lungs," he said, motioning to her cigar. "Those'll kill you, you know. Probably shrink your testicles, too. Funny how they don't put that on the Surgeon General's warning."
