Maria had been strumming along. Letting all the frustration and fear from the last few weeks find it's way into her playing. Anytime someone would pause to throw some change in, she'd look up and smile her thanks at them. When the bills landed in the case, she actually looked up surprised. Then smiled widely, working a thanks in between words of the song.
When the man stayed there, actually speaking, she looked even more surprised. So far, people seemed content to scurry past, mostly ignoring her. Not that she really minded now that she was on the run and all. People not paying you any attention was a good thing. She opened her palm over the strings, she figured the song was close enough to finished and killed the guitars last notes. Smiling even wider at the stranger and nodding, "I did."
She pulled her things a little closer to herself, then tilted her head toward the other side of the bench. "You could sit, if you wanted. Maybe play something?" Maria asked, glancing at his own guitar.
