Oh. Feeling vaguely let down in knowing what Claire said had been only simple facts, Nathan shrugged the feeling off a moment later. It wasn't the time to think about any of that. He could do that later.
As the conversation turned to food, he wandered over to check the coffee with the focused hovering of the caffeine deprived, then turned back. He studied Katara carefully for a moment, as though trying to determine where 'back home' might be for her, then offered up his opinion with a more natural smile now that reached his eyes.
"Eggs, biscuits and either bacon or sausage are good with me," he said, then considered as he leaned against the counter. "Pancakes are pretty typical too, but I'm not cooking, so I'm not picky. At all." Well, sometimes he was, but these people had been nice enough to offer to make food, which saved a likely disaster in Nathan attempting to do it, so he would take whatever was offered, because he had been raised well.
"And really, if you want to make a meal you know, I'm game to try it." How different could it be?
