Tru stopped massaging her temples and glanced over when she heard someone addressing her. If she wasn’t in so much pain, her first thought would be how good looking this guy was, but right now her first thought was getting a reply out without feeling even worse.
“He wasn’t a man at all, actually,” Tru managed.
She went through the encounter in her mind, most of it a blur. The vampire had been staked though, and then he turned to dust. Which was good, very good. Still she couldn’t help but smile when the guy said he hoped she had given some of “’dat back,” or he’d have to.
“I did,” she nodded, which only caused her neck to hurt. “Sort of,” it really had been her double who had done most of the fighting, Tru had managed to throw in a few punches and kicks before falling over in pain.
She took another sip of her beer. “I’m pretty sure I won’t be seeing him again.”
Unless vampire’s could somehow come back after being staked, Tru hoped that was not the case. This place was messed up enough, already. The last thing it needed was vampire’s coming back from the dead…again.
