All right. There were things Nathan could accept on his own. There were things he could accept with input with others. But there were some things, such as learning your brother and daughter had multiplied, that just didn't compute.
He stared at Peter but didn't offer a protest in denial as he had about the time issue. He knew this wasn't a joke, but really?
"There are two Claires," he repeated, shaking his head slowly. Two Claires, one from each of these two times. He sighed softly, chest rising and falling quickly. "I didn't even know what to do with one."
He could think about that in a moment. He needed to address the second part and he needed to do it soon. He hadn't grown up with Peter Petrelli without knowing a few of his moods, even if this Peter was older and had had a harder life. He could still read him and he could see this bothered him more than just having a double. Nathan thought he understood why, at least, he hoped he did, because he could see that the idea of paired off brothers due to their common timeline would be a legitimate worry.
But not with Nathan Petrelli – not this one, anyhow.
"As for two of you," he said, placing his hands on Peter's shoulders as he shook his head again, this time with a slight smile. "The more Petrellis, the merrier."
What his words didn't say, his expression tried to convey, but it was likely the foremost though in his head that spoke the loudest, without the words ever being voiced.
