Startled he was advancing, Sarah took a step back, only to realize she had no further room to retreat, for she had boxed herself into a corner. Stupid. She wasn't fifteen anymore, she didn't have to be intimidated. Yet, sadly, she realized she had somehow been braver then than she was now, or perhaps just foolish and unaware.
She was aware now though, aware of what he could do, aware of how far he would go to win his games, and she wanted nothing to do with it. And then the crystal came out and she shied away like a skittish horse, skin twitching.
Averting her gaze, Sarah stared stubbornly at the wall. She had been led to that once, drugged in fact, to look inside one of those crystals, but she wouldn't make that mistake again and he was insane if he thought she would.
"If you're not dwelling on the past, why are you here, following me?" she said, her voice still that combative hiss. "And don't give me this benevolent assistance crap, there's nothing about you that gives without expecting repayment. In my world, they have legal preventions for this kind of thing, you know, that's how creepy and wrong stalking someone is."
