The ten years since their last true encounter had been kind to Sarah. Childish naivety was replaced by very adult emotions, a very adult figure...a very adult everything. When she solved his labyrinth she was little more than a girl, and now, she was most assuredly a woman.
And that was almost a shame. Ten years ago she had stared, fascinated and horrified and defiant all at once at him, and now she was trying to run away from him. No longer letting girlish bravery allow her to stand strong in the wake of his power to stand up to him, she was content to run away to whichever door of this hovel was hers (because truly what was this place, what was any apartment, when compared to his own home) and wish him away with the same zeal she had once turned on her baby brother.
"Sarah, Sarah..." The disappointment was audible in his voice as he looked her over. "Why do you keep avoiding me? Why do you refuse my offers of assistance? Already my kitten has saved you from a world of unhappiness, just think of what I could do, if you would let me help."
