Bart had official business at the Hyperion. Bart had business that had to do with him paying visits to Clark, Chloe and Veronica, and then throwing saltwater taffy from Atlantic City at them like it was the cure for everything suffered in life. And then, if the great experience that was taffy didn’t lift spirits, he could always fling some of the little caramel things that he’d picked up in Maine. Everybody loved caramels, didn’t they? What wasn’t to like? He sure didn’t have the answer to that question.
The Justice League had allied themselves with Angel Investigations, but even so, Bart whipped out his ID, flashed it, said a name and then went on his merry way, a messenger who had come bearing the deliciousness of teeth rotting candy from all over the country, and then some from Canada too, because with the place being so close and all, he couldn’t hold himself back. Canada had candy too. Canada had maple candy and odd mints shaped like dogs. He liked maple candy and funny mints, so a stop was absolutely necessary.
He didn’t need to use the elevator. He could have chosen the stairs and gotten to the second floor in less than a second. He could have done that but he didn’t and hoisting his backpack firmly onto one shoulder, Bart went off to find the elevator. It was so much funner than taking the stairs. It was like a ride only ten thousand times slower and not nearly as exciting.
There was already somebody there when he got close, a girl who couldn’t have been much older than he was. Being the impish brat that he could be, Bart took off in a flash of light and without being seen, he appeared in front of the elevator doors, all smirks and ‘Why yes, I am proud of myself’ gleams.
“Do you live here? You do right? I guess you do, or you’re just visiting and… Anyway, do you know Veronica? And if you do, do you know where her room is? See, I have stuff for her. It’s important that she gets it. I would go to my other friends first, but I'm doing this in reverse alphabetical order. ” That made perfect sense to him. It seriously did.
