As he listened to her story about her father's death, he could sense that there was more to it than she was letting on. Strangely enough, it seemed to him that fathers were often the greatest cause of strife for a child even if they were the good kind. "I can understand how you feel over your father's death. My own father was a strict and hateful man who chose my fate before I was ever a part of this world. While that's different from your situation, I have spent my life hating my father for not giving me a choice in my own life." He sighed and pulled his hand back from her cheek slowly.
"You're right. Sometimes pain is what keeps you going and hatred right along with it. You just have to learn that there's a time when you have to push past it. If we hide all that we are, we'll eventually wither away."
He reached out and placed both hands over hers. "This probably sounds strange considering that we've only just met. There is more to the world than what everyone sees. You shouldn't hide yourself away from it. Open your heart and find someone who will love you before the world is destroyed around us all." He wondered how many people there were in the world that felt the same way that this girl did.
