She had known the idea was silly as soon it appeared in her mind, maybe even before it. Looking for the Lux? Honestly, it was located in a prestigious zone of Los Angeles, but in a total different Universe! Knowing it was an impossible quest; Elaine readied herself to try and walked every street in uncertainty. What was she trying to hold on? Before the sun rose, that dim hope would be crushed under her heels and swept of by the aura breeze along with the leaves and dust.
One thing for sure: There was no way she was going to sleep in the Hyperion that night when mostly everyone was anxious, angry or afraid. She could feel as they felt and the doubts overcame her again. Couldn’t she… loose up the rules a little and pretend all came back as a heaven-sent miracle? Wouldn’t they be happier that way and lived their lives without going to hell every five minutes? She flinched, recalling what had happened every time she had tried to “help” her own Creation. Well now, that didn’t turn out so brilliant, did it?
But I learned… Frowning, Elaine kept on the searching and searching until her ears caught the heavenly notes of a piano playing not far from it; perhaps a block, maybe two. As sudden, draped in a long white dress, she was standing in front of the building; its artificial light burnt her face. No, it was not the Lux. But she hadn’t really expected to find it. Elaine was only looking for an excuse to leave, to keep her mind from intervening and, at the same time, pretending Lucifer would find her easily if she remained in a familiar place.
Passing the bouncers unseen, Elaine Belloc sat alone on a table near the stage to listen the piano sonata end.
