No one but Peter saw Elle like this. No one. Her father saw her as little more than a weapon and a disappointment. He wasn't here, she was free of him, but she couldn't believe how sweet Peter was to her. She'd helped hold him against his will, she'd hurt him. She'd killed a friend of his, but he still believed in her. She didn't think that was possible. She didn't believe in herself as much as he believed in her.
"I know." She said, when he told her they were new people and this was a new life for them here, he always had a way of calming her down and making her feel better about things. Nothing else mattered when she was with Peter, and she never thought she would have that, or feel the way that she did about him. And now it even went beyond Peter. She was helping people here, she'd saved Claire's life... Maybe saving Molly, Maya, and Mohinder had changed her more than she realized.
"Just us." She repeated, even though it wasn't quite true. There was a hotel full of people, and they were all supposed to be on the same team. But right now, it was just the two of them, spending some time together. He'd brought them dinner and everything, which was really sweet. She felt okay now, not as scared, Peter could see past everything that she'd done, and really see her.
