Mohinder nodded, feeling a stirring of compassion for the other man. It must be difficult, not knowing what your ability was, or if you even had one. In some ways, it was better knowing you didn't. As much as he'd wished for his father's attention, as much as he sometimes wanted to be special, Mohinder wouldn't have wanted to deal with that uncertainty.
"Oh?" he said, curiously. "And what do these people seem to think it is?" He smiled. "If we have some idea, we can do some tests to verify or disprove the hypothesis." He wanted to do everything he could to help Gabriel. This was all he had left of his father. Besides, Gabriel was a good person.
