The Doctor's slightly morose expression brightened up as Susan pushed the door open, the smell of home cooking hitting him immediately. It relaxed him for some reason, there was something so wonderfully normal about having lunch with his granddaughter that it made things slow down, just for a moment.
"Hello! Aren't you the perfect picture of domesticity?!" he giggled as he followed her into the console room, unable to stop himself from looking around in awe once more. The shock of finding her had been so great at the time that he hadn't really taken it all in properly. "Geez, this makes me feel bad for just having made a path in the rubble that is currently my TARDIS," he joked, amazed by the orderliness of this much better kept ship.
