Being used to having the run of her own apartment, Max wasn't overly fond of the idea of staying overnight in the hostel she'd ducked into to get out of the rain. The only reason she'd dropped in was to get her hands on a computer. It'd been helpful (and slow. And a Mac), letting her check the date as she tried to figure out what the hell was going on here. She still didn't really know, but she'd at least made headway in finding a place to stay. It had taken awhile before one of the other computer stations were free, but as soon as a PC opened up Max sat herself down in front of it.
This was a system she was more familiar with, at least. It was still slow and old as anything she'd ever laid her hands on, but at least she had DOS. Very quickly, Max set about finding a hotel nearby and getting into the system to put her name on an empty room. She wasn't planning on staying in this place that was not 2040, but as long as she had to, she was going to be comfortable. As far as she was concerned, this counted as using her hacking powers for good, not evil. Hopefully, she wouldn't even be there long enough for them to notice that they had a squatter with a bank account that was no more than smoke and mirrors.
Oh well, Max thought, it wasn't like this place had cyber police. She hoped.
Max pushed away from the computer. God, she needed a laptop. And her Bluetooth. Did they have even have Bluetooth? Yeah, she should have paid more attention in history class.
"Where's Batman when I need him?" Did it ever stop raining here? Stepping back out into the streets, Max just groaned as immediately her hair ended up soaked. She'd tried buying an umbrella from a newsvendor on the street, but for some reason they didn't take credit cards. There was so much wrong with this placeā¦
