"I'm sorry, Owen," Tosh said, not because it's what people were expected to say when someone revealed information like that, but because she hated the idea of Owen being in any kind of pain. She set down her drink and wrapped her arm around him, wanting to show in some way that she was there for him. Owen tended to bottle things up, and it couldn't be good for him. She smiled sadly as she listened to him talk about the woman he had loved, realising how much he must have changed because of her death.
"She sounds lovely," she said softly. "I can see why you love her." She didn't put it in the past tense, because it was clear that Owen still loved her. She looked down. "How did she die?" She didn't tell him that she knew all about how Katie Russell had died. She'd been working for Torchwood when that had happened and had been told about the problem. She'd met Owen soon after, but had never put two and two together until now.
But she thought that it was important to let Owen say this.
