She returned the smirk with one of her own, they had been doing a good job of it so far, that was true. But as happy as she was to simply ignore the issue, it seemed that wasn't going to work at all.
Buffy regarded Faith with interest, tilting her head. "You're the boss, here, aren't you?" she asked, shrugging her shoulders. "I'll be honest with you, Faith. I don't see you as my superior. I don't see anyone as my superior, I just...don't. I can't." equal ground was one thing, but she didn't regard anyone above herself. "I'm not here to take your team, it's yours, I don't want it from you. But I stopped taking orders a long time ago." that didn't mean she wouldn't listen to someone if she liked their choices or trusted them.
But she had no superiors.
"I'm here as a Slayer, for whatever reason the Powers want me here, so here I be, and I'll do my job until I'm either dead or allowed to leave. But don't expect me to fall in line." and if someone wanted her to leave the hotel because of it, she would. She'd get another job, find a place to live. Or she'd access the Slayer funds and find a place to set up shop her for herself. Not as another AI, but is a Slayer, like she'd always been.
The oldest slayer found herself staring at the floor as she spoke. When she realized this, she raised her eyes again, steady, solid, unmoving. She didn't back down.
