"It is beautiful." he said, smiling a little at her. "That's the way with tribes..passing things down. My own staff was carved by my father." he said quietly, getting lost in his own memories.
"They are sometimes more trouble than they are worth but they are good friends." he said, smiling at each ferret in turn. Each chittered at him which caused him to laugh a little. "Behave yourselves." he told them then reached up and set them on his shoulders. Normally he'd have set them on the ground but in this strange place he didn't want to take the chance that they'd get lost. Podo crawled up and set her little paws on top of his head and looked around. Codo just sat there. He knew both animals were scared and he told them that he'd keep them safe. Looking at Katara he narrowed his eyes a little. "Appa? Is that a friend of yours?" he asked.
When she asked about others he just shook his head sadly. "No. I have no friends here other than Codo and Podo." he told her. It didn't really surprise him that Ruh, Sharak and Tao weren't here with him, they'd been nowhere near him when he'd been plucked from his own world and set down here. When Podo settled back against his shoulder, Dar reached up and brushed his wet hair back off his face before palming the rain away from his vision. "When I left my world the sun was in the sky. Is it always night here?" he asked. "And raining?" he continued flicking his fingers to the side. He didn't so much mind the rain, however he was starting to get a bit cold and he was willing to bet that there wasn't a cave for shelter anywhere nearby.
