Katara visibly relaxed at the sight of the ferrets. Animals didn't frighten her. Strange, moving pouches, however, did.
Her fingers went to her necklace at his comment, the familiar smooth pendant acting as a soothing balm to her slightly frazzled nerves. Smiling lightly, she replied, "My mother passed it down to me not long before she died. It's the symbol of my tribe."
Stepping a little closer, she next turned her attention to the ferrets themselves. Her smile grew slightly, features lightening as she looked back to Dar. "Animals here aren't the same as they are, back home," she admitted. Her gaze flickered back to Codo and Podo once more, tone turning slightly wistful. "Sometimes, I think I'm going to forget what Appa even looks like."
With a small shake of her head, she seemed to snap herself out of her memories and asked, "Do you have any other friends with you?" If he did, getting Angel to agree to let him stay at the Hyperion might prove tricky. Provided, of course, Dar would even want to stay there. Katara was certainly intending on offering, at the very least though. She couldn't just leave him on the streets in a world that was so obviously different from his own.
