Re: FIRST DANCE – Dean & Claire;
Dean closed his eyes when he felt her lips press lightly against his jaw, reveling in the familiar gesture. It was odd how true the words sounded, how them they were when he stopped mocking the sexual orientation of the singer...not that he'd ever admit it to anyone else.
From the moment he started to let his guard down around her, Claire Bennet had been the first one he called. Happy, sad, scared, teasing or otherwise, his best friend was always the first person he wanted to talk to about what was going on in his life. That was not to say that Dean had ever been much of a talker, sometimes she had to all but drag the details out of him to help him heal, but when the truth came out, nine times out of ten he was saying it to her first. He hoped that he was that person for her as well, that he was strong enough to stand firm in the wake of a storm that was powerful enough to rattle her and be her support. He wanted to be there for her as she had been for him.
Even now, he wasn't ready to sing the words in front of everyone, but what he could do was show her how much he agreed. He opened his eyes, his look unmistakably earnest, then leaned to kiss her forehead. With his lips still lingering against her skin, he muttered 'I love you,' hoping she understood.
