Timberlake. For once Dean Winchester had said the name right, but the only reaction clear was Claire's eyes widening briefly in surprise. To react further, to even bring it up, would start a cascade of denials and macho assertions. That wasn't for this moment.
"I never would have. Okay, I would have guessed 'maybe someday we'd have a song' and 'probably it would be ACDC'," she said with a soft laugh as the song continued on around them, the gathered guests' presences melting to the edge of her awareness.

"The one you should call, was standing here all along," she sang, then kissed his jaw, a familiar enough gesture.
The song hit several true-to-life things right on the head, and that statement was one of them. Even a year ago, when 'best friends' had been the key label of what they were, that statement had been true, in platonic ways Claire had been fully cognizant of and in a way Claire had not allowed herself to consciously acknowledge. They'd come so far in just a year, such a short time when compared with a lifespan, but a time that felt twice or three times as long because of the concentration of life-changing events in one city.
