Who: Sharon and Hera Agathon What: Playtime. Outdoors, for once When: Around lunch time Where: A park! Rating: G Status: Complete
It seemed that Hera had wanted to go out to play, and this was one thing that Sharon could not refuse her daughter. So she had tracked down the nearest park, with a few supplies in a bag, some lunch, a blanket, some juice for her when she was thirsty. They'd spent the first hour on this play equipment that as there. They'd slid down the slide, Hera had tried the monkey bars while Sharon had a latched onto her tiny waist as she did so. They'd found the little kids swings that allowed parents to secure their kids in the seat. Hera had delighted in that. Despite her mood of missing Helo terribly, she couldn't help but feel just a tiny bit better as the sounds of her laughter filled the air. This was good. This was how a child was supposed to be raised. Not running around in circles on a ship.
Come lunch time Sharon spread out a blanket it the park and brought out a few containers of food for herself and Hera, and then sat the little girl down on her lap just under a tree. "No, sit, it's lunch time." Athena instructed her daughter as the little girl tried to get up to run around some more.
Once there was juice in her hands and a tiny piece of a peanut butter sandwich in her mouth she seemed to settle. Of the sandwich didn't go over she had backup baby food, but was hoping to avoid that. Sharon herself was enjoying what was possibly the best egg salad she'd ever had, when Hera suddenly became excited as she pointed into a tree.
Sharon looked from Hera, to the tree, briefly confused. Until she saw it. A chipmunk was hurrying up the tree, every now and then dipping out of sigh behind a branch. Then it would pause to chew on something. "Dat! Dat!" she said excited, Sharon leaned forward slightly pointing to the tiny animal. "Chipmunk." she said slowly. "Chip-munk. They live in trees." How completely fascinated she was by the little creature, Sharon couldn't even describe how much this meant to her.
Her daughter was excited over a Chip-munk instead of a flashing light on Galactica's walls. The thought made her smile, though it faltered slightly when she realized that Karl should be here to see this as well. That all the people on Galactica should have the opportunity to be see this. To feel safe (or mostly safe, she was armed, the guns were hidden), not hungry, to be able to enjoy the sunshine, fresh air, on a planet that wasn't filled with radiation.
Frakking Powers, it wasn't supposed to be just the two of them, and she wasn't supposed to feel this alone.
