Right. That was what it was. Spike felt differently on the matter, but it didn't seem much like he was going to be able to change her mind. He wanted to, really, for her own sake. Spike might not have been buddies with her, but he did find Ruby's presence interesting sometimes at best. She was better than some of the other demons around here and Spike would have almost been sad to see her go if she were to lose her mind again. Not that she ever had it in the first place, he figured. Wanting to end the world? Yeah, that was crazy. Even Spike, in all his ways of evil, had never tapped that line. Fuck. No.
They walked long enough for Spike to finish off his cigarette and then some. He didn't mind wandering about sometimes. It was definitely more interesting when he had a companion - this time, a very new one. He was on the verge of initiating further conversation (he was in the mood to talk music), when something crashed in the distance. A trashcan rolled out onto the curb and the sounds of a distant scuffle were immediately picked up as Spike advanced forward.
"Mm," he said, reaching into his pocket for a stake, "looks like we found ourselves a nice little party."
