It was a mixed blessing and Faith could see that. On the one hand, it was probably better in the long run that the kids accepted the idea that LA was full of every kind of weird. But on the other, no kid should have to live like that.
"They'll be okay," she replied, in what she hoped was a comforting sort of way. "It's not easy, but they've got you and Heidi, and everyone else. With their family around, they'll be able to cope." Nothing was worse than a kid trying to grow up alone, she could say that with experience. Of course, there was always the dangers of LA. Privately she swore that Simon and Monty would never have to know what it was like to lose their family at too young an age.
She laughed, a faint blush rising on her cheeks as she looked at the coffee mug a moment, almost trying to hide behind the ceramic. "Yeah, yeah, believe me, I know. I'm itching to get back out there and get a few good stakings in to make up for it. And ideally kick the asses of those lawyers."
She looked at him with a faint smirk. "What do you think my chances are of getting to Lilah?"
