"They bounced back, like kids do," Nathan said, gaze briefly inside his mug, "but have been sticking close to Heidi. They've gotten used to the idea of the bad guys thinking of 'weird' ways to do things. It's a blessing or a curse depending on how you view it."
Which, in the wake of having his life partially rewritten, Nathan was viewing it through negatively-colored glasses to see more of the latter than the former. Still, it wouldn't be the first time he'd been to that negative place, so he knew that now, more than ever, it was important to get to the heart of things, rather than try something 'new' and hope that satisfied. Hence this talk.
But, for a least a few more moments, the talk was less about A.I. and more about its people, specifically the people that were still in charge of it in actuality or name, so he listened as she explained her life, lips quirking at the end.
"Fainted? Sounds like you'll need to be kicking vamp ass and lawfirm ass for that."
