Who: Jo Harvelle (1) & Ellen Harvelle When: Early afternoon Where: The Roadhouse Rating: Probably PG13 for language Status: Incomplete
Since it had opened, Jo had avoided the Roadhouse. She knew that Junior was working there, and was usually there (when she wasn't off hiding out with Dean the younger and Crazy Sam because she'd done something stupid), and while she liked her and all, she sometimes felt weird being around her. Seeing the younger Jo made the elder feel strange. If her mom hadn't died, that could have been her. Or the one in the video who, as it turns out, died, could have been her. But none of that had happened.
It made her feel weird, too, to see her mom. When she had been younger, she would spend hours at night just staring up at the ceiling, having conversations with her mom in her mind. She'd never known her, but it helped to talk to her, to discuss things that she couldn't always talk about with her dad. When she never got an answer...she grew out of the habit, eventually.
Jo knew that she didn't live her life very well, and it certainly wasn't normal. She didn't have a home, didn't have anyone waiting for her that loved her. All she'd had was her dad and occasionally Bobby, and other Hunters here and there. She knew that she had too much sex, drank too much, and cursed too much, but all of that was her way of dealing with the things she had seen, and done. She had learned the hard way to not fall for someone, because eventually she'd be moving on.
Now she was here, and so was her mom. Jo couldn't help but feel that she was a huge disappointment, especially compared to the younger Jo. The one who was perfect, who did what their mom said (usually) and who stayed home and didn't go out hunting much. Despite that, a part of Jo desperately wanted to know her mom, wanted to talk to her, share things with her.
It was that part that had the blond walking into the Roadhouse. She paused just inside the door to study it, taking in the decor. It was actually her kind of place, which probably shouldn't have surprised her. She took a deep breath, then called out, since she didn't see Ellen...her mom, right away.
