So. This is Enlil. He's Sumerian. He's really old. Old for a Sumerian. He gets cranky sometimes. Like... tried to cull humankind three times because they were noisy (with pestilence, drought and famine) kind of cranky; and when that didn't work, sent a huge flood to try to annihilate them all. That whole Biblical Flood myth... is thought to maybe be based on what he did... because humans made too much damn noise. I'm not joking. Seriously. Read his bio in his journal.
There were a lot of hymns written about offerings made to appease his anger, so he doesn't fuck around with threats of smiting. But, he's Nergal's dad, so... I wouldn't expect him to threaten in jest. But! He loves his family and his homeland very fiercely.
He's calmed down quite a bit: doesn't hate Greece nearly as much as he used to (and it used to be really bad -omg so bad), but I'm not sure I could see him socializing at the NYE thing so I will not toss him over there. Not even with the chance to see his sister and son. No.
I do recommend looking over his bio when you have like... time to kill, because there's a lot there. It's in the journal an unlocked. He has a huge history including his courting of his wife, Ninlil -though there is some debate there if she did that in reverse (she may have been clever enough to know damn well what she was doing :) ), the creation of humans and his attempted annihilation of them all, why Marduk is king, why he really hated Greece OMFG FUCK YOU ALEXANDER AND ZEUS.... just yeah..
Also, in all my research, I learned some... interesting things... in the Sumerian language: En-lil literally translates to Lord-Storm, Nin-ka-si literally translates to Lady-Mouth-Fill (lol), and the words for fresh water and semen are exactly the same thing... and since Enki was associated with the fresh waters (and to an extent, so was Ninkasi) and he dipped his dick in everything... that is.. both disgusting and hilarious.

| NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY |

As you may have noticed, there is a new thread in DDC, and it's open to EVERYBODY! It's a semi-formal masquerade party, which let's everybody get dressed up and those that want to be sneaky (for whatever reason) be as sneaky as they like. You can throw as many of your critters in the mix as you like.
We'll play this as we did the Halloween party: various conversations will take place in individual threads within the post. The party will run until we get bored with it, since there's really not a particular end game the the party as a whole, though there are some characters that have plots to play out within it. Feel free to start post-party threads as the spirit and plot bunnies move you.
And one last thing: don't reveal another character's identity, or assume your character knows who they are, without discussing it with the player of the character. Though it may seem like a no-brainer for, say, family members to recognize one another, there may be reasons the player wants their character to remain incognito. So be respectful.
And have FUN!

I know that you've had a Sif in the past, so I'm trying to be aware of history, and I am very willing to keep any pertinent backstory if you just let me know what it is. Sif splits her time between Asgard and Midgard (Earth), and honestly, she probably needs some friends because boy, is she good at burning bridges lately it seems. So, I'm mentally bored but too busy, really... to do replies right now. Maybe after work... I dunno. But, I'm going to pull something up I haven't really done in ages on my personal journals and throw it out there for my characters to respond to. It's the Friday Five. Did any of you guys do these on LJ back in the day? There's a site that posts five questions on Friday and you answer them on your journals or whatever.
I figured, hey, why not? So, here's five for today if anyone wants to play or mock... or whatever.

- How sensitive are you to changes in atmospheric temperature?

- What’s something you know about the moment of your birth or the events immediately before and after?

Oh boy, did it. Kasi's journal is most appropriate for this...
So... I was taking this quiz for giggles that assesses as only the internet quizzes can... how you are in bed. LOL. I was doing this on break because today... today is balls. Work was just one giant pair of sweaty, gnarled, hairy, unwashed testicles today. I just can't even...
So, I obviously didn't get every available answer, even though I took it from the perspective of each current character of mine, but I lumped the duplicates under the descriptions so you can see who is (in some cases, alarmingly and in others, hilariously) similar. Trust me, I needed the damn laugh. You have NO IDEA.

Hi!
I'm home! And not without lots of snarking on the ride home. "No! Stop. You are why we can't have nice things!" and "Are you done, Gollum? Are you ready? Can you take your bottles of The Precious back to the hotel room now so we can leave this ghetto ass gas station?" lol There was way too much laughing in my car. Lack of oxygen?
Of the entire drive to Dragon Con and back: through Milwauke, Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville, Nashville, Chatanooga and Atlanta.... the worst part of the drive was Milwaukee on the way home. "Wait. That's St Josephat Bascila. How the fuck did I get on the wrong bypass? Are they leveling this city and just rebuilding it all from scratch? WHAT IS GOING ON?" No one knows. Not even the locals I've asked. I take comfort in that.
Anyway, this is me right now...
Pretty much since I returned from DragonCon that's all I do and I don't really nap much or sleep in... ever. I'm working on getting back in the swing of things. Tomorrow I have to wade through piles of emails at work, and then if things go well, maybe I can start working on replies.
Does anyone want anything new with any of mine in the meanwhile? I'm pretty game everywhere, actually.

Hello,
I am working on almost no sleep today, because I couldn't fall asleep last night, and when I finally did it was really shitty sleep. That said, no replies today. I have to run to Joann Fabrics (again, I swear I live there the last few weeks), and then I'm likely to crash.
Any replies I don't get to before Wednesday evening (in between packing) will wait until early next week, as I'm coordinating at a festival from Thursday through Sunday. SO...if you are antsy for a specific reply, please let me know and I'll make it a priority before I leave.

Tereesa strikes again! Sif returns, this time with a new face and a new journal. Check it out!
This version of Sif has the same history (not much changes when there isn't much out there about you). However, what I'm hearing in my head is a more bitter version of her. She is still the goddess of the Autumn Harvest, and of prosperity and material wealth. Give to the poor, and flaunt your shit is pretty much her m.o.
What you don't know (unless you already looked at her bright, shiny, new journal-HINT!) is that Sif loves sushi, lattes, French cuisine, goat cheese, red wine, and lingonberry jam. She hates stews and one-dish meals. She seldom watches tv, but enjoys classic movies, and attending the opera and dramatic theater performances. She enjoys entertaining and hosts frequent dinner parties. She recently realized she is a "fag hag", and while the term bothers her, she is perfectly fine with the diagnosis.
Please let me know if any of your characters would like to play. She's pretty anxious to get back in the mix.

Which means that I may be a bit slow, but I will absolutely prioritize anything that is of gameplay significance.

So, I shut down my personal server space to save money. Today is the last day of hosting there and while I have every thing copied to my hard drive, I've been reluctant to begin the fight with Photobucket to change links in my IJ accounts. I worked on that yesterday and I'm going to finish it up today. It means I'm also making my journals easier to edit in case I need to do this again. So, simpler code for prettifying.
Anyway...
