The most feared card of the tarot deck, the Death card.
Butterflies swarm around him, the souls of the dead waiting to pass through purgatory. That is why it is said that if anyone desires a wish to come true, they must first capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it, for it shall be carried to the gods. But when you wish for hope, it creates an equivalent despair. Alchemists call this the principal of Equivalent Exchange. That is how the balance of the world is preserved.
Most people only see Hope, because they cannot see the Despair behind them. Hope whispers from the bottom of Pandora's Box, "try one more time," too loudly to hear over her. But it's there. There, behind them, the figure of Death stands waiting, watching, ready... with Hell close behind him.
