Home and healing
Characters: Dean, Justin & Ernie (& Seamus, if you like)
Setting: The Finnigan-Thomas household, around 5:30 PM, Nov. 19
Summary: Dean's finally home from Mungo's and gets a visit from two of his very best friends.
Rating: Mostly worksafe. Justin's involved, after all.

Take-away was a blessed thing, Dean decided. Dean usually did the cooking, because honestly Seamus could probably set fire to a dish of water if let loose in the kitchen. They'd long since decided that Seamus shouldn't go near the cooker at all. However, Dean wasn't really in any shape to cook. He still only had the one good hand, and cooking decidedly required two.

Dean realized as he walked past the still-shut door to his studio, that he actually wasn't certain if Justin was bringing take-away or making something himself. Justin was just the sort of person who would think he was helping by trying to make a warm home-cooked meal...but Dean wasn't sure how that would turn out for any of them involved. Ernie would be coming over as well, and Dean realised he was really looking forward to having their friends over and trying to regain some sense of normalcy.

Dean settled onto the sofa, his right hand still bandage, and kept it elevated on the sofa's arm. One-handed or no, he was being adamant about doing what he could, as many normal activities as he could handle. He was tired of feeling anything like an invalid. At least his bruises were gone now. All that was left to heal - if it could - was the still mostly-deadened right hand. If it couldn't well then there was a whole lot of Dean's spirit that would need mending as well.

It was a busy day at work, given that first thing that morning Ern had noticed an odd journal entry, which had subsequently led to a day long search in the Forbidden Forest. (Seeing that was the place where Michael had been found, it only made sense that Fenrir was hidden within with Shiv.) The search party will disband once daylight disappears, as the forest was infinitely more dangerous in the night. After giving report to the next shift, Ernie made a few quick stops in Diagon Alley for a couple of pies and wine before apparating over to Dean and Seamus' place.

At this point he felt like he needed a break and diversion from his own reality. He still had difficulty with the responses that he had received from Greyback and hoped that Shiv would still be alive when they found her. He had no idea why they'd keep her alive for so long after having captured her, unless it was to turn her. That thought made him shudder too. But now it wouldn't help for him to continue to be stuck on this further than he needed to do his job. And what better way to move on and cope than to surround himself with friends?

He felt bad for not stopping by to see Dean earlier but was busy with the calls and reports of sightings of the witch on the newspaper cover. Most, if not all were false reports, as the witch was rather unremarkable in feature when it came down to it. He could've sworn she looked familiar though.

Ern was finally visiting Dean though, knocking on the door to the home he shared with Seamus as he balanced the paper bag with the pies in one arm, and the red wine in the other.

Dean pushed himself up with his good hand and went to the door. He tugged it open and smiled at Ernie. "Good to see you mate. You've actually beat Justin here. Come on in." He stepped back, letting the door stand open for Ernie before closing it back.

He glanced at everything Ernie was carrying and offered to take the paper bag. He gestured to the table. "Here, set things down. When Justin gets here we can rearrange with food."

Dean waited until Ernie's hands were free to give his friend a one-armed hug. "How've you been mate? Better than me I hope," he added, trying to inject a bit of levity.

"Good to see you too. Really? I think that's a record then," Ernie said, smiling, glad to see his friend in good spirits.

"It's alright," Ernie said as he did the juggling of setting the items on the table. Ok, so he was something of a bit more conscientious around those who have been injured. It went with his Man-of-La-Mancha-type self...

"And I've been alright," he added, with as much care to not indicate that things had been otherwise. Between the nightmares and the guilt he hadn't been sleeping enough.
