Characters: Daphne Greengrass & Astoria Greengrass
Setting: Leaky Cauldron, around 8pm
Rating: pg-13
Summary: Tonight Daphne is solving her issues with some public drunkenness.

Today was the worst day of her life. Sure, people were being killed, a good portion of the population were plagued by nightmares, but today she had to stand there and watch as Amina married James Harper. To add insult to injury all of those lovely wedding guests thought she was upset because she and James had been something of a thing back at school. And to some extent she had loved James, but not even close to how much she was still in love with Amina.

Once the cake was cut and the appropriate toasts made, Daphne found an excuse to get out of there. It was tempting to go see if there was something she could do at work, but for tonight tequila seemed to be the far more appropriate solution. After all, this whole thing had started with tequila, it seemed only appropriate it would end that way.

Still dressed in her bridesmaid dress, hair done up, and with shoes that looked like they should be painful, she apparated to the Leaky Cauldron. There were plenty of other places she could have gone, but there was an appeal to being able to be able to stumble back to her flat when she was finished. At least now it would truly be her flat again and she wouldn't have to suffer through the heartbreak of Amina legally living with her while actually 'living in sin' with James.

"You know what, you should really just leave the bottle at this point. It's going to a bit of a night." And she would regret it in the morning, but she always regretted it in the morning. That was how this sort of thing worked.

Astoria told her mother she was going out to meet Daphne, and though her mother would usually protest to her being alone with her older sister's influences, she was so thrilled that things finally seemed to be going her way, that she didn't put up a fight. So Astoria apparated to the Leaky and hurried inside to find her sister. Daphne had apparently gotten a head start on her, but had a bottle all to herself, so that meant that Astoria could catch up, and all she wanted right now was to forget the day.

"Save me some, yea?" she said as she sat down next to Daphne. "It's been a shit all of a day, I just want to get sloshed and never wake up." She couldn't stop thinking about Justin, how he must be so confused and frustrated. She knew how much Justin couldn't stand Zacharias, and she really liked Justin. She didn't want to hurt him.

Daphne threw back her second shot not even flinching. She had a few glasses of wine at the reception, plus the few drinks here and she was starting to feel less likely to do something extremely stupid. She smiled as Astoria took the open seat at the bar next to her. At least she wouldn't have to tell someone to shove off.

"I will certainly drink to that, sister." Daphne signaled the barkeep to bring another glass so that Astoria could join her. Once they had two glasses she poured them each a drink. "To shit days and the alcohol that makes them better," she said lifting up her glass in cheers.

Astoria clinked her glass with Daphne's before downing it. She was pretty sure alcohol wouldn't be enough to fix this day, but that wasn't going to stop her from trying. She let her head fall to the bar on her arms and let out an annoyed and upset groan. "How do things get this far Daph? How do they get so shitty?" She was jealous of Daphne being free of their family for all practical purposes. She wished she could do the same, but she was scared of the shite storm that would hit if she attempted to escape.

"I wish I could be like you, just go off and leave for a while, and not have to feel the need to make mother happy." she looked back up at her sister. "What's your excuse for being driven to drinking today?"

"Had I known that me leaving would make things so rough for you, I might have ... well, I would have at least gone about it a little differently." Daphne hadn't really expected their mother to put Astoria lock down once she left. Not that she would ever really regret leaving. Staying was never really an option, but if she could do it again, she might have found a way to take Astoria with her.

Before answering that question, Daphne poured them each another drink. "Harper and Qureshi wedding today, which is also the reason for my fabulous dress." And that was certainly worth another drink because not even her sister knew the whole truth.
