Girl talk
Characters: Angelina & Alicia
Setting: Around noon at a pub in Wales, Sunday the 16th
Summary: The girls catch up on everything that's been going on, positive and negative.
Rating: Worksafe

Angie hadn't caught Ally for more that brief chatting for what felt like far too long now. So she made a date to take her friend to lunch and catch up on, well, everything. Between the living Inferi, Dean's disappearance, Fenrir's escaping, and everything else, not to mention their attempts to try to have a remotely decent romantic life, there was plenty to discuss.

Running late as per usual, Angie actually got to the pub at about ten after, taking off her coat to reveal a very casual jumper and jeans. She glanced around the room, expecting Ally to already be there.

Ally was glad Ang had suggested meeting up - she'd been spending far too much time with George lately, and was afraid of becoming one of those girls, the kind that never had a life outside their bloke.

She had an ale in front of her and kept an eye out for her oft-fashionably-late friend. Upon seeing her, she gave a big smile and stood up to give Angie a proper welcoming hug.

"Hey, you gorgeous quidditch fairy you," she teased amiably.

Angie caught Ally in a tight hug and then flopped into the seat across from her, grinning. "It's probably ridiculous how much I love the idea of a drunken little belligerent fairy namesake." Really she should have thought a bit more about how the fairy's penchant for drink prompted a comparison to her and what the probably said about how much she herself drank.

She gave her friend a once over and raised an eyebrow. "You're looking cheerful. Let me guess. Been spending time with Georgie lately?" She wiggled her eyebrow and then flagged down someone to order her own ale.

"It's not ridiculous, I love the idea too! I can't wait till they've a proper league set up so we can go watch regularly. Who knows, maybe you could learn a thing or two." She grinned at her own bad joke.

She rolled her eyes, but happily so, as Angie flagged down a server. She took a sip of her own drink as the order was taken and the server retreated back behind the bar. "Yes, if you must know, I've been over at his most nights. I admit, he's got an addictive way of keeping me distracted, and I've been earning my keep by helping him test out new products. So you can stop worrying about me and the nightmares - he's got me covered."

It must have been a pretty slow day as the server returned with Angie's order within minutes. She waited till he was once again gone before continuing.

"So have you heard anything more from Seamus or Dean? Aside from what I've seen in the journals, that is."

"Right? That Philomel Perkins is a right genius, she is. I might try getting in contact with her for a look see before things get fully set up. I'm too impatient to wait." She scowled at Ally at the last comment and reach over to give her a light shove.

Her drink arrived and she gratefully sipped it, still hemming and hawing over what she'd actually like to eat. As Ally expounded on her relationship with George. "Good. I'm glad he's there for you. These bloody nightmares..." She shook her head, not really wanting to delve into the details.

She frowned deeply though at Ally's next question. "Same as you. Just what was in the journals. At least Dean's safe now. Seamus said he was in pretty bad shape. i just hope he'll be all right."

"He's alive," Ally replied. "That's more than some others can say. Seamus will help him through, and we'll all help in whatever way we can."

As long as we're still alive too.

"The whole world is going to shite," she said in frustration. "I'm lucky I work either out of my flat or at other people's homes, else I'd have met up with those inferi things. Tell me, why haven't we up and moved off to Siberia or something to get away from it all?"

"Yeah," Angie replied, and fell silent for a moment. She could only imagine the hell Seamus was going through. Dean was alive sure, but badly hurt. Seamus's mother was dead. Not to mention all the other deaths that had been happening. This killer...they had to find her and end her, and the sooner the better. "I think we ought to reschedule that DA meeting and be far more careful about it this time."

"I agree. I ran into those, did I tell you? Michael showed up at just the right time. But I was so on edge for the next whole day that, well." She smiled almost sheepishly. "I owled Cade again. Not quite like moving away to Timbuktu or something but it took my mind off things."

Ally huffed and nodded. "I know he meant well, but Justin sure opened a big can of worms with this one. I've been considering making a trip to the WWN offices to give Smith a good kick in the arse, though I bet that line up is a mile long."

Her eyes opened in surprise. "No, you didn't tell me what happened! Merlin, I'd have been on edge too. But oh, you have to tell me about Cade, have you decided when you're seeing him yet? I am so proud of you, luv." She grinned, happy for her friend.

Angie rolled her eyes and downed a goodly portion of her drink. "I know. Poor Justin. He wouldn't have forgotten that charm if he hadn't been in such a rush to check on Seamus. Smith, however, is a vile little toad and I hope he rots slowly from the inside. Actually no. I hope that the entire DA beats the shite out of him six ways from Sunday."

She shivered slightly as she remembered that horrible day in Diagon Alley. "I froze, Als. I saw them and I just couldn't move. Michael saved me before one of them.... Anyway when he did that, I sucked it up and fought alongside him. I was terrified the whole time. I couldn't really sleep that night and like I said, edgy the next day. Lee actually stopped by and cheered me up but then I saw Cade and..."

She paused and drank some more before continuing. "That first time was not a fluke. He's incredible in bed and he can more than keep up with me." She rolled one shoulder in a shrug. "I'm not labelling it, but I dunno. maybe it's going somewhere. At the very least I've got a regular now."

"The next time we have a DA meeting, let's put it on the docket - Item A5, scheduling a date to beat the shite out of Zacharias Smith."

She frowned as she heard how afraid Angie had been. She too was glad Michael had come in time. "I'm glad Lee was there. And Michael. Merlin, makes me feel bad about being with George instead of with you. You're more important."

Angie's expounding upon Cade's assets made Ally smile, glad Angie had someone to help make everything a little better. "Nothing wrong with a regular anything. I know you've been looking for someone to match with in bed, I won't fault you for getting it."

She took another sip of ale, thinking back upon her last week and realizing just how out of touch she'd been with the outside world. "You remember Michael apologizing for the potions not working well? I found out the hard way, and George was there to see it." She winced, remembering how terrible the nightmare had been.

"I'll open with a motion to make that the first order of business," Angie replied baring her teeth briefly in something that wasn't at all a smile. "We might have to draw straw or take numbers though, to see who gets to go first. I'm pretty certain most of us would love a go."

She hand-waved Ally's apology about being with George. "How about this. We're even. You've been with George when I was attacked by creatures, and I was probably with Cade when you had your worst nightmare yet. It's all right Als. Neither of us were alone and neither of us are foolish enough to start neglecting our friendships now, yeah? No apologies needed."

She reached over and laid her hand on her friend's. "I am really sorry the potion didn't work out though. And here we thought Michael might have been on to something."

"All right," she smiled sheepishly at Angie's iteration that they were even. That didn't mean she wouldn't still try to repay her, but they would forever be doing so for each other.

She gripped Angie's hand back. "I hope he keeps at it. It worked the first night. Maybe it's because of the nightmares, or whatever magic is involved. Like playing against certain Slytherins, you'd evade one of their bludgers and they'd go out of their way to hit it harder next time." She snickered at her own propensity toward using quidditch analogies.

"And speaking of bludgers, when does the season start? I'm going through withdrawal, you know."

Angie knew that smile. It was one of the great tenets of their relationship. Competition showed up in many forms and one was how they almost seemed to compete to be there for each other. Objectively, it was amusing. Subjectively, it was one of the reason Angie loved Ally so much. They just fit, from the moment they met.

Angie squeezed her hand. "I think this witch's magic is stronger and darker than we've dealt with in some time. I heard she was with Grindelwald back in the day, like his Bellatrix Lestrange. Can you imagine the amount of mad she must be? I mean Bellatrix was mad enough, but this Pandora person, if she's really the one doing this...she's had more time to be even madder."

It was something Angie hadn't really thought through until she said it, and as soon as she had, she frowned. She shook he head and tried to focus on something else, grateful when Ally brought up quidditch. "You've got withdrawal? I'm the one sitting around with her thumb up her arse and nothing to do." She chuckled and then added, "Lats I heard, they're delaying the start of the season because a handful of starters are having the nightmares. I think they want to call up reserves without making anyone thing they're just looking for replacements in case Pandora strikes."

Ally shuddered. Angie's description certainly matched the pure evil in the voice that spoke to her in the nightmares, whispering in encouragement of her pain and death. With a final squeeze, she let go of Angie's hand, wanting to just not think about it anymore.

She was about to argue against the delaying of quidditch season, but she could definitely see the point. She couldn't possibly imagine playing professionally in the aftermath of one of her dreams. "We can't let her win," she said simply, yet sadly. "A single witch, and she's disrupting our entire lives, in so many ways. I just... There's nothing I can do. Let's not talk about it, all right? Let's just have a nice lunch, and not let her ruin that too," she finally said with determination.

Angie agreed wholeheartedly to that sentiment and took that opportunity to order a nice thick steak and some chips for lunch. "Right then we'll talk about something else. I know I asked about you and George already but tell me more, yeah? You two thinking this is just mutual comfort on something more?"

She certainly didn't know where she and Cade stood as yet. She wasn't sure she wanted more that regular incredible sex just yet. Hmm, maybe she ought to try spending time with him outside the bedroom and seeing how they got one. The first time they'd spoken since Hogwarts it wasn't exactly pleasant, but that could change.

Especially since know, when he irritated her it had the twisted effect of turning her one at the same time.
