Astoria was interested in the fact that he had been a part of the group when it had started. "I imagine it was a good bit different in its early forms," she said, taking another sip of tea before continuing. "It was started the year that Umbridge was at Hogwarts, yes? I remember learning very little from that woman that year, and not feeling particularly bad knowing there were people making her life harder." Arabesque gave her a wide eyed stare of disaproval at this particular comment. It was very unlady like of her to condone such behavior in such a way.
"It has most likely evolved into something more serious and troublesome since then, my dear," Arabesque said in a stern tone to her daughter. But she caught on to Zacharias' next comment before Astoria could say anything one way or another. "Yes, I admit, there is something I hoped to discuss with you while you were here," she said with a polite, possibly even excited, smile. Astoria perked up a little, sure this would be the moment of truth where she would discover what the ulterior motive to this particular invitation was.
Arabesque set her tea down carefully on the coffee table before folding her hands in her lap and crossing her ankles, the picture of well brought up pureblood woman. "I had the pleasure of running into your mother a few days ago," she started. "We had a lovely time chatting and catching up, it really has been far too long since we've all seen each other." Astoria bit her tongue to keep from telling her mother to get to the point. "She informed me Zacharias that you are still single, and perhaps in the market for a proper wife? Your mother and I thought what a smart pair you two would make, don't you think?"
Astoria nearly choked on the sip of tea she was taking, coughing a little and lifting a hand to her mouth to hide her shock. She knew her mother was up to no good, but this was not what she'd expected. This was far beyond what she'd expected, and she could only hope that Zacharias would be as uninterested in this topic as she was.
