Characters: Michael Corner, Fenrir Greyback & Siobhan Templeton
Setting: Eastbourne then the Forbidden Forest, 16 November 2003, 10:32am
Rating: R, just to be safe
Summary: Somebody's getting wolf-nabbed.

After all that had happened on Friday, Michael wanted to check in on Lavender as much as possible. He was due in at work in an hour, but he wanted to be certain that she was doing alright before he went in. Everyone was on edge after Seamus' mother's death, Dean's being missing, and Smith's stupid announcement on the WWN about the DA. But none of them had Greyback stalking around looking to finish them off or whatever he was hoping to do, so he could only imagine what it was like for Lavender right now. He was trying his best, but he wasn't really sure that he was all that helpful to her. Anthony did not seem to be quite as thoughtful about the situation as Michael was and while he understood that his mate was worried about him, he wasn't just going to leave Lavender alone to deal with all of it.

Michael apparated to the spot behind the house, just in the woods where Sylvia had told him to apparate to as to not be seen by the Muggles who lived nearby. It kept him out of sight, both from the other houses but also to the Brown house as well. He was about to step forward toward the back of Lavender's house but was hindered from doing so almost immediately after arriving.

Fenrir and Torolf had made an early start to their day, though while Fenrir waited in the woods behind the Brown girl's home, he had sent Torolf on an errand to get more cigarettes. He was going through them especially fast after five years of not having them. This was always the worst part of any plan like this, the survelance stage, because it was necessary to learn your target's routines and habits, as well as who was important to them, but it was never as much fun as actually driving them mad and killing people. Still, while yesterday had not only given him a little much needed excitement, it had also alerted him to the fact that his old DMLE friends were after him again, which was something worth knowning. Gave him another target to add to his rapidly growing list.

Fenrir heard the pop that announced someone apparating and turned to get the cigarettes from Torolf. But it wasn't Torolf, it was the bloke from the beach, the one that Brown girl cared so much about. Fenrir ducked out of sight quickly, waiting until the guy got closer so he could jump him. This day was turning out better than he'd expected it to. Just when he came up even to Fenrir, he leapt out of his cover and tackled the bloke to the ground. "Well well, look who it is? Lover boy, I saw you yesterday on the beach. So nice of you to drop in." He lifted his fist and brought it down soundly against the bloke's face, most likely breaking his nose.

Another pop let him know that Torolf was back, and the other man rushed to his side as soon as he realized something interesting was going on. "Forget the surveilance, we're taking this one to go," Fenrir said to him, snatching his cigarettes and stuffing them in his pocket before standing up and hawling the bloke behind him. "Let's get home," he said to Torolf, and a moment later, the three of them were apparating to a point a short distance from their pack's location.

Michael didn't really have the time to respond with his wand when the man tackled him from behind and then there was blood all over his face and his nose was broken and he was breathing in blood and coughing it back out again. This was definitely not how things were supposed to be going. It took him a moment to really comprehend the words that he was saying but then he realised that this was Greyback and he was in some real danger now, the kind he had tried to pretend wasn't that big of a deal yesterday when he'd talked with Anthony.

Yet here he was, disapparating against his will to the Forbidden Forest with Greyback and his wizard pal and this was not how things were supposed to be going. In these situations, Michael tried his best to stay calm and keep himself level headed because freaking out never helped anyone, especially not your companions. Granted he was alone this time, but it was always good to pretend he had someone else to calm down so that he had a reason to remain calm himself. Once they had apparated Michael said, "The fuck you want me for?" to no one in particular, but of course he knew the answer to that question already. He was trying to stall for time while he looked around and tried to take in the surroundings as much as he could.

As soon as his feet were once more on firm ground, Fenrir roughly grabbed the bloke by the back of the neck and wrenched him forward, letting Torolf follow close behind to watch him and make sure he didn't try anything stupid. "You must be one dumb fuck if you don't know the answer to that," he said, forcing him forward at a quick pace. "How do you think the Brown girl will react when she finds out her boy friend has been kidnapped? By me no less?" He laughed maliciously. "I will be sorry not to see the panic in person, I'll just have to be satisfied knowing how broken she'll be."

After just a few minutes, they reached the wards, and Torolf stepped foward to make a way in for them. They followed through, and once inside and around the others, Fenrir shoved the bloke forward, pushing him to the ground. "Look what I found, boys. Rules are different on this one, I'll let you tear into him before long if you like," he said. The others laughed in approval, all crowding around to get a look at him. "Seems the Brown girl likes this one especially, should be fun when we're tearing flesh from bone, at least he'll have that thought to comfort him." Fenrir kicked the guy in the side, hard, before stepping around him to stand with the others who were surveying him.

Michael wasn't a dumb fuck, but he didn't mind pretending to be for the sake of these idiots if it meant keeping a low profile. Better to be an idiot for them than to show just how smart he might actually be. In fact, the dumber he seemed - the better at this point, he wagered. He still had his animagus form up his sleeve since he had never transformed on the beach on Friday so there was always that and Greyback hadn't taken his wand yet, but he wasn't foolish enough to try and use it just yet. "How is she going to know I've been kidnapped? I didn't even make it to the house and she didn't know I was coming by," he pointed out.

Michael didn't like the looks of this pack, but worse, he didn't like what Greyback was saying. He should have expected that Greyback was not planning to treat him kindly, but it wasn't that part that was catching his attention, it was 'this one.' And then he remembered: Siobhan. She was still out here. He fell even closer to the dirt as Greyback kicked his side, inhaling sharply as the pain hit him. He held his side and sucked in a breath before asking, "This one? How many boyfriends does the Brown girl have exactly?" he asked, continuing to play stupid.

Fenrir was amused by this bloke. He wasn't sure if he was just as dumb as shit, or if he was pretending, but it didn't matter to him. He really wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't mentally capable of much, that seemed to fit into the Brown girl's life fairly well, he'd even make a point of telling the bloke that at some later moment. "You see, kid, there's all sorts of magical ways for people in your world to communicate, I'm sure it won't be too hard to snatch one, but if you'd prefer I go directly to the source and tell her in person, I'd be happy to do that."

Fenrir stood over him with the others, listening to what he said. When he spoke, the others looked to Greyback for his reaction on that. Fenrir let out a genuine, barking laugh in response, quickly picked up by the others. "So, the bitch gets around, does she? Not surprising, she seemed real comfortable with you. I can easily see her spreading her legs to any bloke with a kind word." He was aiming for a soft spot, fairly certain he could rile the bloke up a bit. Really, it would be more fun that way.

Michael wondered if Greyback would try to talk to her in person or not. It seemed like a stupid move, considering that he knew that Lavender had contact with the auror department now, so he figured that he wasn't going to be that stupid. However, if what he was saying was true, he was going to let her know somehow and that worried Michael because Lavender didn't need to know about this. "That seems like a great idea. Maybe there will be loads of aurors with her this time and you lot can sit down for tea."

The blood from Michael's nose was coagulating now but there was enough of it on his face that it hid his gritted teeth at Greyback's next comment. He knew that the werewolf was just trying to wind him up and the last thing that Michael needed to do was lose his cool and do something stupid just then. He may be known for being stupid, but in these situations he knew that to survive he had to be patient; after all, there was a reason he had survived being tortured by the Carrows so much back in seventh.

Michael took a deep, calming breath before he spoke again. He was not happy with what he was about to say but if it kept him alive and Lavender safe then he would do it. "I don't rightly know. What she does is her business - she's just a shag, but so am I. 'Fraid you're taking me isn't going to bother her all that much."

He chuckled. "You don't know when to close your mouth, do you? No matter, it's much more helpful to me the more information you let go. I'm not much of a tea drinker myself, but I'm sure a few of my pack mates here wouldn't mind sending the message for me. Think she'll recognize them as being with me soon enough to do whatever it is to call the DMLE on them? Werewolves are pretty quick, I like their odds."

A few of his packmates laughed behind him, making noises as to volunteering for the task. Greyback noticed though that the bloke here seemed to be fairly good at keeping his cool, though he had a feeling a few things he said were starting to poke at the right places. Really, what it meant was he had to try harder, get meaner, and mess with his mind even more. He had no problem with that. Fenrir crouched down in front of him. "You're a pretty convinceing liar," he said. "But the thing is, I was on that beach yesterday, I saw the two of you together. I've never seen a bloke act like that with someone who is "just a shag". But if she is, my mistake, I guess I can just kill you now, and send you piece by piece to the Brown girl over a period of time. That would be just as fun for me, might not bother her its you, but having body parts show up at her door would probably make her a might uncomfortable. And if she is the whore you don't seem to mind shagging, then maybe I'll have one of my boys here deliever you personally, and see how willing she is to fuck whatever comes near her. Could be an interesting experiment."

Michael just shrugged to that question. Lavender wasn't stupid and even if Greyback didn't go himself and sent someone else (which Michael wasn't sure he'd even do because so far he hadn't done that so why would he start now?) she would figure out if she was being followed or was in danger. She knew how to pick up on those sort of cues. Merlin knew she was good at that, if anything else. "I dunno. Guess you'll find out?"

If he was already threatening to kill Michael now, maybe he'd be able to escape earlier than expected. However he hadn't been able to figure out where Siobhan was and Michael couldn't just leave without her. He was not happy with the shite the werewolf was spitting at him, but he had to ignore it if he had any hope of finding Shiv and getting her out of here too. And he couldn't lose his cool and let all his trump cards out five minutes into this or he'd be fucked. It was difficult to hear someone talk about Lavender like that and all he really wanted to do was shove his wand into the man's throat, but he had to steel his nerves or he'd not get the results he wanted.

With balled fists so tight he could feel his fingernails digging into his palms, Michael ignored everything Greyback just spouted and said through gritted teeth, "Where's the bird you kidnapped from Azkaban? Did you kill her already too?" He didn't think so considering what Greyback had said when they first arrived, but he had to ask anyway, to keep up appearances.

Fenrir was glad to know that people knew he'd taken the girl from Azkaban. Something to make them worry a little more, and not just write him off. He had no intention of sinking into the background and letting everyone be, he didn't really care what the consequences were, and he figured having a hostage would relay that sentiment better than anything else.

"What, my new pet? She's made out pretty well here so far I think, hasn't gotten herself into any unnecessary trouble. Though I am worried she might not take me seriously and follow my rules. Maybe I can use you as an example for her, so she'll know what's at risk." Fenrir stood back up and looked over at the man who had been guarding her all day. He motioned silently with his head to go get her, and he stalked away to Fenrir's cave, returning a few moments later dragging the girl along with him. "See? Hardly a scratch on her. Brought you a friend sweetheart," he called over his shoulder.

Michael didn't even think that Greyback would bring Siobhan out like this but at least he would get to see that she was okay for himself. He would much rather Greyback torture him instead of her so he didn't have to worry about her being in danger. He knew that if he didn't do this for Ernie's sake, if nothing else, the bloke would likely kick his arse. So he'd have to try and pull all the attention from her and onto himself.

When they dropped Siobhan in front of Michael, he sighed almost with relief. She didn't look very bad, but he wasn't sure that was necessarily a good sign. "Shiv," Michael said quietly to her. "Are you okay?" If they were keeping her in good health, it might only be because they planned to turn her and Michael wouldn't allow that. He would have to get her out of here too. There was just no way around it.

Siobhan recoiled from and when back up against the wall when she saw the sheet move again. Something was happening out there, and she really didn't want to find out what it was. She was freezing, and starving because all she had been given to eat was raw meat, but she knew that anything out there was far worse than what was happening to her in the cave. She also had no idea if Fenrir was back, and that other wolf, or man, or werewolf or whatever he was kept eying her like he was going to pounce the first chance he got.

Instead she was pulled out of the cave quite roughly and dropped on her arse, yet again, but this time in front of a familiar face. She was dirty, but no real worse for wear. From behind her, she could hear Fenrir's voice telling her something, but she was too scared to look away from Michael. What were they going to do to him? Were they going to keep him like they were keeping her so they could turn him? Or were they going to make her watch while they did something much worse? She really hoped they were just planning to turn him, then they might be able to figure out a way to escape together. Her nod was a little spastic as she looked at him. She wanted to tell him what they were planning, but she was too afraid of what would happen to her or him if she did.

Fenrir watched the reaction between the girl and the bloke, and was pleasantly surprised to see they knew each other. Even more happy was he when the bloke said her name. Or a nickname, he assumed, as "Shiv" wasn't a regular name he was familiar with. "Well, there's something. So your name is Shiv, is it? What's that short for, sweetheart?" While he would like to be able to use her name, he wasn't going to just stop calling her sweetheart, it was kind of a way to make a point for him.

He stepped forward, near the roaring fire that his pack mates had started up, and grabbed the end of a stick that was only half in, the end of it smoldering and glowing orange. He stepped forward, towards the bloke. "I'm sick of talking," he said in a bored drawl as he swung back the stick underhand and then swung it forward to make contact with his face, right over his right eye and cheek. He didn't laugh or even crack a smile, keeping things very professional in front of the girl. "You're really not the one I care about. It's your blond friend, the one that got away, my unfinished business. I'm sure you understand, no hard feelings." He took another swing with the burning stick and hit him hard on the shoulder before putting the stick back into fire so he could heat it back up.

Michael was not really convinced by Siobhan's nod, seeing as it did not seem very normal and she seemed quite shaken. He wanted to comfort her in some way, but he highly doubted that Greyback was going to allow that. Of course, he was right about that. After rambling on about finding out Siobhan's name - something she apparently hadn't told him and Michael had just blurted right out like a sodding idiot - Greyback decided that he wasn't going to muck about anymore.

Michael had been tortured by magic before in seventh year, by the Carrows, but this was something altogether different. Then he was able to pull his mind away and think of other things. He talked to Anthony and Terry inside his head and pretended he was somewhere else, but he just wasn't able to get to that place with this. Not yet, anyway. When the burning branch hit his eye it was like a burning needle had been stabbed directly into his cornea. He couldn't help but scream, because it was a pain he'd never experienced before. Michael had never felt his flesh burn and now the skin around his eye was burning and all he could do was paw at it with his hands but that wasn't helping, not at all.

At the back of his mind he considered that if Terry were here he'd know how to fix this, to keep him from getting any lasting damage from this but Terry wasn't here and Michael's eye was flooding with tears and he couldn't open it and he was fairly certain he'd never use it again at that point, but it was a fleeting thought because the pain was so excruciating. He was hardly aware of what Greyback was saying to him - if he was even talking to Michael, because at this point Michael could not be certain of that. As he twisted and writhed, his journal fell out of his pocket, unnoticed and even if he had he would not care at this point because Greyback took another swing at him, hitting him in the right shoulder and the burning pain started all over again. His shirt was melting against his skin and he tried to tear it away but he was pulling his skin off too. This wasn't really happening to him, was it?

She heard her name come from Fenrir's mouth, and all she could do was look down at the ground. She really hadn't wanted him to know her name. It was something she would have avoided if she could, but she wasn't mad at Michael for saying it. She could see that he was worried about her. It wasn't as if she could hid it anymore, so she spoke softly, even though she knew he could hear it, knew they all could hear it. "Siobhan."

That was when what she had hoped wasn't going to happen, happened. Fenrir picked up that stick from the fire and started hitting Michael with it. When it hit his eye, she screamed out and clamped her hands to her mouth. If she couldn't stop this from happening, she didn't want to see it, but then he was hit again, this time in the shoulder, and Siobhan couldn't help but move to try and block Michael with her own body. She was a guard, and she wanted him to get out of here. They clearly wanted to turn her, but only wanted to hurt him. In the heat of the moment and with panic in her eyes, she looked to Fenrir, "No! Stop! Please stop!"

Then after a beat of silence, and in a slightly calmer voice, she spoke quietly this time. "I'll stop trying to get away. I'll stop asking you to take me home. I'll stay, just please, let him go."

Fenrir nodded to her. "Siobhan," he repeated, as if tasting it. "Very nice, it suits you," he said quietly to her. He was amused by how his fun with the bloke was going, though he didn't show it. He pulled the stick back out of the fire and took a few more swings at him before Siobhan decided to interfere. At first he was furious, but he calmed before he could make any move to hit her. He wasn't interested in hurting her, that wouldn't work well with his plan, and after going through all the work to keep her alive and untouched by the others, the last thing he needed was to actually go back on his promise to not hurt her. Still, she was interfering annoyingly.

Her words were interesting though. He handed the stick off to one of the other guys, who made a move forward to continue his attacking of the bloke, but he put a hand up to stop him. "You'll stay put and not give me anymore trouble?" he asked, a stern look on his face. That was when he noticed the journal that had fallen out of the bloke's pocket, and he stepped forward, leaned down, and picked it up. He flipped through it, and it was clear that multiple people had written in it, or were communicating through it, or something. "What is this little gem?" he asked, reading a few of the conversations and scowling at them.

Michael was temporarily startled by Siobhan's interference. He would never have dreamed that she would jump in front of him and try to stop Greyback from doing this, no matter what she did for a living. Maybe she was used to facing danger in her job, but after being here she had to be frightened. And Michael's flesh was burning, what was she thinking? "Shiv, no!" he cried, his voice cracking and almost foreign in his own mouth. He could barely speak for having screamed so much, but he couldn't have this. He couldn't have her trying to sacrifice herself for him; he wasn't worth it. He'd told Lavender, he'd told Anthony - he just wasn't worth that.

Trying his best to ignore the burning pain in his arm and his eye, he tried to stagger to his feet. He stumbled and fell the first time and then the second as well. "Shiv, you can't-" he said, finally realising he wasn't going to be able to get up in this state. He tried to reach out for her with the arm that had not been hit, but he burned all over, even where he wasn't actually burning. Michael's head shot up when Greyback spoke and he could barely see through his good eye that he was now holding up Michael's journal in his hands. "Just - just a journal," he said, wondering why he would be interested in it at all. Michael turend his attention back to Siobhan. "Shiv, please, don't-" he begged with as few words as possible, his throat tasting dry and hoarse.

She hated the sound of her name coming from him, but she tried not to react to him saying it, and she didn't move from where she was between Michael and Fenrir. She could see that he had gotten angry, but she also noticed when that anger ran out of him and he passed off the stick to another of his pack, and she couldn't help the slightly smug expression that came across her face. She wasn't naive enough to think that he wouldn't go against his promise to her no matter what, but if he wanted her to stay in his pack after he turned her, and it seemed like he did, then he'd have to keep it through this situation.

She turned around toward Michael when he started scrambling and tried to soothe him. She'd have had to stay if they killed him, and she'd have to stay if they let him go, so in her mind, she wasn't really making any concessions. "It's okay. He won't hurt me. At least, I don't think he will." As she spoke, she used as quiet a voice as she could while still making sure he could hear her. As she turned back around to face the head werewolf, her body and her face was set with determination to save her friend from him. "I'll stay put, but I can't guarantee no problems."

That was when she saw him pick up the journal. If he didn't find out what it was, and she was left alone with it in the cave, she could get a message out so there would be a better chance Michael would be okday. Unfortunately, a bit of that hope was probably on her face.

It was amusing the way his pack mates looked at him while the girl talked, clearly unsure of how Fenrir was going to take being spoken to in this manor. He doubted they expected his response though, because after she said she couldn't guarantee no problems, Fenrir broke out into a loud bark of a laugh. "You do have some fire in you, don't you sweetheart? I think I can work with that, will make things much more interesting in the future." He gave her one of his extremely rare smiles, which while still creepy, was a bit more genuine than his evil smirks.

Still, despite the turn of events with the girl, he was still very interested in the journal in his hand, and the way the two of them looked at it. Clearly it was something important, and he wasn't expecting to get any answers out of them, so he turned to his pack mates with a quizical look on his face, waiting for an answer. "It's probably one of those journals we've been hearing about. You can talk to others through it, write a message, it appears in the other person's journal," one of his guys said.

Fenrir took a look at it more closely, that explained why there seemed to be conversations in it, rather than just journal prattlings. "Well, isn't that interesting? I think I just found a way to tell that Brown girl that her beloved here isn't coming back any time soon, and no aurors necessary." he smirked at Michael before stepping towards Siobhan. Fenrir leaned down and pulled her up off the ground. "I think you've had enough excitement for the night, boys, do what you want to him, just don't kill him." Fenrir left the bloke in the hands of his pack and walked Siobhan back to his cave.

Michael didn't like the fact that Greyback had taken his journal. He didn't know what he'd say to Lavender but he knew it would only make her freak out more. That's the last thing she needed right now. But he had more urgent things to attend to, so he tried his best to put it in the back of his mind.

"Shiv! You can't - he will hurt you!" Michael called after them as Greyback walked away with her. He could still barely speak though and it came out as more of a hoarse whisper than anything else. She was going to be turned if she stayed here any longer. He had to get her out of here. But that meant enduring the torture that they had in store for him today, if not tomorrow or the next. He didn't know how long he'd have to wait for a good opening to try and escape as a wolf. The best he could hope for was a time when he wasn't in so much pain that he could barely move because right now, he couldn't even stand, much less run on all fours, and then he had to figure out how to get Shiv out of the place they were keeping her hidden in. Greyback was keeping her like a pet and it as fucking sick. Michael wouldn't stand for it, no matter what he had to do. He'd save her. He just had to.

He closed his eyes as the pack circled around him and tried his best to go somewhere else; he didn't know how long this would last but he did know that it wasn't going to be pleasant...
