Justin looked away from his best made to trade glances with Mags, who noticed everything and immediately stepped forward to fill Ernie's cup with tea. "Now you just sit yourself right down and I'll get you some eggs and toast, just how you like them." She tenderly squeezed Ernie's shoulder before heading off to the kitchen.
"Ernie, dear, you look like you slept worse than I did," Justin's mother said sympathetically. "Justin told me you were having strange dreams, like myself."
Justin closed his eyes. He didn't want to hear this or any kind of confirmation that two of the most important people in his life could die. He stuffed a forkful of waffle into his mouth, but didn't taste them at all.
