Astoria was a little nervous about this meeting, because she didn't exactly see eye to eye with the Chambers, and she was fairly certain they knew that. Plus Elijah always gave her the creeps, but technically she wasn't related to him, she just had to put up with him when she went by their house. Still, Astoria liked Samara, she was an interesting woman to say the least, and given her recent tragedy she wanted to make sure she knew that she was there for her if she needed anything.
Of course as soon as she reached the restaurant and heard the tone of Samara's voice, she figured the last thing the poor woman needed was someone fawning over her when it really wouldn't help in the least, so Astoria bit back her condolences, as she had already sent them in an owl the day before. "It really has been too long," she replied with a genuine smile. "I have to say, I was quite excited to hear you would be returning to the Ministry. I've heard the other Obliviators talk about how good you were before you left, I'm certain everyone will be thrilled to have you back!" Astoria had been well trained to slip right into perfect manners and ways of acting when around any other Purebloods or people of importance, and family fell into both catagories, no matter how distant the relative.
