Anthony couldn't lie and pretend that had hadn't been glad to see Michael arrive. Not because he was afraid, but because it made him feel more comfortable. Regardless, he made a slight face at her. It wasn't as if he had called Michael to come to his rescue or whatever it was she was trying to say.
He raised his eyebrows at the idea that the conversation was civil as Anthony was pretty sure that he must have had a different definition of the word from Marietta if she thought that was what had been happening before Michael's arrival. In fact, Anthony was more than certain that her false niceties when she had first approached him had probably been the nicest thing she'd ever said to him.
Nodding slightly, he crossed his arms over his chest. "The full story being that if we ignore what words were actually said, it was incredibly civil."
