He really didn't have a standard of what parenting was meant to look like so he just shrugged. "It's fine, it is your home and your son is rather...endearing I suppose." And not quite a child at all. In a way it was similar to his own upbringing, but that had lass to do with who he was and really what his parents expected.
Neither Isaiah or Elaina were particularly good caretakers. If anything, Zacharias Smith made it through his childhood (if it could even be called that) because of Lefty. The little house elf that could, who in the wake of his father's death seemed to be extra attentive to his needs. Really Lefty and his friendship with Cedric were the things that gave him what little resemblance of a decent human being he had. And the irony of that situation wasn't lost on him. A house elf and a dead boy made him something of a better man.
"No, I'm quite alright," he said following her into the living room. "I really shouldn't stay too long as I do have a few things to do before I head into this office this morning." Still he took a seat willing to chat for a little while. Zacharias couldn't imagine she would have much time to be around adults because the child did seem like a handful. "However, like I said I did want to deliver my gift in person in case there were any concerns or questions."
