Zacharias had considered her last owl, not really sure if it was a good idea for her to check out the flat on her own. He would later ascribe the sudden amount of caring to the fact the interns were bothering him more than helping him today and he needed an excuse to get out of the office. And really, checking on Tracey was a sort of noble excuse.
He was not even halfway to her flat when he spotted Tracey on the street. "Tracey," he called out after her. Zacharias walked briskly to catch up with her. "I know you said you wanted to go alone, but some company couldn't hurt and I was glad to slip out of the office." That and he supposed when it came down to it, misery did love company and in a twisted sort of way, he actually appreciated the fact that she was worse off than he was.
