It turned out that going into his room to go play, actually meant that Jason needed to go to his parent's room and help Eli finish getting dressed. Eli didn't mind the company or even the constant chatter of exactly what Jason thought of his outfit and anything else that happened across his mind. It was actually a welcome distraction.
The last thirty-odd hours had left him unsettled. The Daily Prophet had called them Living Inferi, which was the most polite way to say that someone quite powerful had taken the bodies of the Kissed and was using them. In his world, it was worse than inferi. At least the inferi were dead, these things were still alive and Eli wasn't entirely convinced that they didn't have some cognitive ability. And it just bothered him, which was why he had been looking forward to a night out with Samara away from all of the things.
Except he wasn't sure he was going to be so lucky because Benji apparently had his wife in his hysterics.
"Dad!" Jason said, standing up on the bed. "What was that? Do you think Uncle Benji did something mum didn't like?"
Eli turned around looking at his son, a bit amused that he had the same thought just a moment before. He had been about to suggest that Jason stay here while he went to go check it out, but Jason didn't give him the opportunity. "I should go with you," he said very surely, jumping onto his father, trusting the man to catch him.
Of course he did, but he wasn't about to let Jason get everything he wanted. "Fine," said Eli, shifting the grip on Jason to hold him more comfortably, "but if I ask you to go wait in another room, you can't complain or roll your eyes."
"Fine."
"That's including now."
Jason glared a little at him, but accepted the compromise because at least he got to go. Maybe it wasn't the best idea on Eli's part, but he knew that it was probably worse for Jason to not get to see what was happening. His son needed confirmation that everything was okay and Eli couldn't imagine how it wouldn't be.
So, Eli walked down the hall to the living room where the siblings where - Benji holding his wife by the shoulder. "Is everything okay here?"
