Hoping for some understanding
Characters: Bianca Dunstan and Astoria Greengrass
Setting: The Sweet Shoppe, Muggle London. Wednesday, 12 October, around 4:30pm
Summary: Astoria comes to talk to Bianca about visions and to escape the inferi
Rating: Worksafe

Bianca was very distracted, and finding it extremely difficult to focus on her work. She'd begun to work on confections - specifically chocolates and candies - and was trying to decorate truffles. But her mind kept wandering to the owls she'd snuck out to send Astoria. It was risky, ending owls in a muggle neighborhood, but she was impatient and wanted to talk to Astoria as soon as possible. She only hoped that this wouldn't turn out as badly as it had with Lavender. Though maybe, since Astoria was having visions too, she'd truly understand in a way Lavender couldn't. Maybe Astoria was even seeing the same woman as Bianca.

She kept anxiously looking towards the front door, realising she wasn't certain what Astoria would look like now. She remember a pretty girl with dark hair in her NEWTS Divination class, but her hair could easily be any shade now. So all she could do was wait until someone showed up and asked for her by name. She dried her damp hands on the apron she wore over her dress, sitting back from the chocolates for a moment.

Astoria made some lame excuse to get away from her mother, who was having a panic attack about the chaos going on in the Wizarding world today, even though we weren't anywhere near the problem areas. Really, the woman just liked to have something to complain about, and to fret over, and really, Astoria was glad it wasn't her for once, as she seemed to be her mother's favorite problem to fret about. She apparated close to the city and headed to the shop on foot. Of course, it would be one more thing for her mother to freak out about if she found out Astoria had been around muggles that day as well.

She found the shop easily enough, and though it was a bit busy, she pushed her way in and made it to the counter, getting a few unpleasant looks from people who thought she was cutting to the front. "Excuse me," she asked one of the women behind the counter. "I'm looking for Bianca Dunstan, I'm supposed to be meeting her here."

It was only because Bianca was listening hard for her name that she managed to hear it spoken. She stood up and poked her head out from the back area where she was working on the chocolates and saw a young woman who looked vaguely familiar, enough like Bianca's scant memory of her former classmate. She exhaled and came out all the way. "I'm Bianca," she replied, taking off her apron.

She stepped out from behind the counter and came around to greet Astoria properly. "Please, come over this way. We can talk over here." She gestured to a slightly out of the way table, where they could have a modicum of privacy. "Thank you for coming. Would you like anything before you sit?"

Astoria followed Bianca over to the table. She remembered her from class, she hadn't changed too much in appearance that she would have been able to pick her out of a crowd. The table was a bit out of the way so they would have some privacy, which she appreciated. There probably wasn't anyone in this place that was from their world, but all the same, with everything happening, the last thing she wanted was to be overheard by someone who might know who they are.

"No, thank you," she said as she sat down. "I'm really glad to have the opportunity to talk to you, it's such a relief to not be alone in this. How long have you been having visions?"

Bianca sat across from her and immediately starting twining her fingers together. She was surprised when Astoria launched right into questions, but fought down nerves. She didn't have to worry this time, right? Astoria would understand.

"Since Hogwarts. I had my first vision there. I've had them off and on since, but they were never anything serious until the war. Then they went mostly quiet again, until Halloween this year." When everything had started. "What about you?"

Astoria could appreciate small talk and easing into certain things, but she was too excited to wait on this particular conversation, and she didn't know how long Bianca had for a break. She did hide her excitement though, keeping her face even and calm. She nodded at what Bianca said before responding with her own story. "I also started having them at Hogwarts, after my first Divinations class. They started off few and far between, and usually fuzzy, I couldn't really figure out what was going on, or what was happening to me. Over the years they've grown stronger and more frequent, but they've never really been of things too important until recently. I think the first useful one I had was before the battle at Hogwarts, I caught a quick sight of something bad happening, but I didn't speak up because I didn't believe it." She looked down at her hands on the table, she still to this day wished she'd at least gone to her head of house about it, but it wouldn't have made much difference. It wasn't a lot of warning.

She didn't bring up her recent visions quite yet, as she wasn't completely sure what to make of them herself, but that was why she was here. She hoped between the two of them, they could help each other figure out what the other was Seeing and what its importance was. She'd never had another Seer for a friend, or even an aquintance before, so she didn't really know how to go about that.

Bianca listened as Astoria told her story, surprised at the parallels she saw in it. Finally when Astoria had finished, Bianca exhaled. "That's mostly how it's been for me too. You don't tell many people about your visions do you? What...can I ask you what you've been seeing?"

Bianca had leaned forward a little both out of interest and to keep her voice low but still be heard. "I just...I wonder if you've been seeing anything similar to what I have been, is all. If so, maybe we could figure out what it means."

Astoria nodded in response to her first question. "No, I don't tell many people. My own mother doesn't even know, just my sister. And Professor Trelawney. And now you." she gave a weak little smile. "What about you? Have you told many people?"

She was a little nervous, but who better to talk to about visions than another Seer? "Well, I've been seeing the same thing for a while, since all this started, but it's progressed a little. At first it was a red headed woman talking to a man, just talking, nothing more, and nothing interesting. Now they're arguing, and I've heard them call each other Pandora and Gellert. I'm not sure what they're arguing about exactly, but they get increasingly more angry everytime I see the vision. And then last night I saw those things that are walking around Diagon Alley, and I was terrified but didn't understand it. Now I do of course, having come face to face with them. And on top of all that are the nightmares..." Astoria sighed and shook her head, she was so tired, not just physically, but tired of everything that was happening. "What about you, what have you Seen?"

Bianca shook her head. "No I don't really tell a lot of people either. And just recently I found out the hard way you shouldn't trust some people with the information."

Bianca listened as Astoria spoke her eyes widening. "I've been seeing her too. Just her, no one else, but she was always...terrifying." Bianca swallowed hard, but she really started when Astoria mentioned the things in Diagon. "I saw those too," she added, in a whisper. "I didn't know what they were either, but now..."

She shivered. "I think it's a very good thing we're having this talk. Someone...someone thought I was involved because I was Seeing Pandora. It's very reassuring to know I'm not the only one seeing her."

She smiled a little, though not a happy smile, more an understanding one. "Yea, been there, it sucks when you trust the wrong person. That's why I didn't tell Justin it was me having the visions. It's amazing how many people don't just not believe in Divinations and such, but how many are seriously against it and rude to those who do believe. I've found it's better to just keep my mouth shut."

She nodded as she listened. "Yes, even when I see them fighting with each other and not even yelling at me or something, it still terrifies me. Usually leaves me a bit histerical for a little bit, thankfully I've been home every time I've had one so far, I'd hate to have one at work." She shivered at the thought of that.

Astoria suddenly made the connection between a read headed Seer the prophet had mentioned. "The Prophet was talking about you, weren't they? So you went to the Ministry with what you've Seen? Do you really know when the next person is going to die?" She doubted it, but she had never been good at figuring out what the Prophet was right about and what it was wrong about. She usually just assumed whatever was written wasn't 100% accurate. "I haven't gone to the Ministry yet, not even with the nightmare. I'm afraid to. Do you think I should?"

Bianca nodded, trying not to think about the run-in she'd had with Lavender. "Justin if one of the people I trust to know it. He believes enough to accept that other people can divine, but not everyone. That's why he sent you to me, even if he thought it was your friend who was the seer."

Bianca considered Astoria's words, wondering a bit more at that. "Yeah I've only had them at home too, thankfully. Interesting coincidence there, wouldn't you say?"

At the mention of the prophet, Bianca's head jerked up. "No! I mean well yes, but...I went to the ministry, but I don't know when someone's going to die. I didn't predict anything like that and I don't know why they said that. I don't want people thinking I can do that." For her safety, in case the killer didn't like the thought of her knowing so much; or for her innocence, in case people thought she was predicting things because she was doing them; or even just because people might bother her to ask what else she could see.

She really just wanted to hide again.
