Who: Astoria Greengrass
What: Vision + Nightmare = one shitty night
Where: Greengrass Manor
When: 2amish
Rating: PG13ish, not fun nightmare.
Astoria had gone to bed hours before, but hadn't been able to fall asleep until very late, or early, depending on your opinion. She was terrified, because she knew what was coming tonight, if the pattern held true. She was torn between the desperate need for sleep after a long day, and the urge to never sleep again, or at least until whatever this crap was passed. Which wouldn't be soon enough, and she'd be a zombie due to sleep deprivation by then for sure. So, sometime after midnight, she had finally drifted off, letting her exhausted body make the decision for her.
Astoria opened her eyes and looked around the all too familiar setting: the dark room, the unpleasant smell of something burning that made her stomach turn, and the sound of someone laughing behind her. There was a large, bronze contraption in front of her, that looked like a bull, life size, but she knew from experience that it didn't matter how large it looked, it was cramped as all hell inside. She felt her feet starting to move forward against her will, and knew the Imperrious curse had been cast on her. She was allowed to shout and scream though as she fought against the forward moment, but before she knew it, she was climbing into the belly of the beast, and door was closed and locked behind her. Once released from the curse, she pounded her fists against the metal prison she was in, screaming, begging, crying, anything that might save her, might sway her attacker. She promised to do whatever they wanted, swore loyalty, servitude, anything, but nothing saved her. Before long the tell tale heat and smell of burning flesh hit her nose, and she could feel the metal around her heating up at an alarming rate. The heat grew to an unbearable level around her, so that she could hardly scream, and the metal around her heated until she shrieked in pain. The searing, scorching, burning pain seemed like it would never end, she couldn't die quick enough.
And then she sat straight up in bed, crying, shaking and sweating as if she had been in that heat box. Astoria threw herself from her bed, hitting the ground hard. She scrambled around until she found her robe and wrapped it around her shaking body. Not that it did much, it was just habit at this point driving her. Once that was done she crawled to the wall and sat with her back to it, wrapping her arms around her knees and sobbing quietly into them as the images of the dream were still fresh in her mind. She was all alone in this, no one she knew was having the dreams, or at least no one she was comfortable talking to about it. Of course, that reminded her of how few people she was actually comfortable talking to about anything. Really, she could count them on one hand. She sobbed a little more, allowing this to run its course, and hoping she might get some sleep without having the dream again.
But just as she was regaining control over herself and calming down, something else happened. Her vision started to cloud, like a white mist was invading her sight. "Oh no, not now!" she wailed, knowing exactly what this precluded. And indeed, in moments, her room had dissapeared and was replaced with a vision. She was looking on the streets of Diagon Alley, and there were strange people moving towards her. Their clothes were strangely uniform, gray and blue, with strange little pins on their lappels that she couldn't identify. There was something most definitely wrong with them, as they seemed to shamble towards her in a mindless movement forward. Just before they reached her, and just as she was feeling the need to bolt in a new fear, the vision faded before her, and she was once more in her room, sitting on the floor clutching her knees. What the bleeding hell was going on? None of this made any sense, and she was just plain scared out of her mind now. She was more convinced than ever that she was losing her mind, and not for the first time, she wished she had someone to share her bed with so she wouldn't have to be alone when this shit happened. One thing was for sure though, she wasn't going to get anymore sleep tonight.
