michael corner is reluctantly growing up (mlcorner) wrote in pandorarpg,
It wasn't that Michael wanted to die or that he had a death wish of any sort and it wasn't like he was hoping that would be the likely way that things would turn out. He didn't want to leave his friends, but he didn't want to be selfish about it either. He just felt that they would have an easier time of moving on without him than he would of moving on without them. He had been ridiculously dependent on Anthony ever since he first met him and even if they were somehow two halves of one person or whatever it was people said, he knew that if one of them were to be able to continue on without the other, it was going to be Anthony. He was the smarter of the two of them, he was the one who had the abilities to get himself places whereas Michael was just a pretty face and a laugh.
And while Anthony might think that he wouldn't be able to do it now, he'd realise it eventually. He had never really needed Michael for anything - hell, he didn't even want to be his friend in the beginning - so moving on after Michael was gone was not going to be as difficult as he was thinking it would be. He was only just used to having Michael around all the time now, but he would realise that he was completely self sufficient and he would be just fine. Michael knew that and this was why he did not mind doing this for his friend, if it ever came to it.
"No, I didn't mean that. I know I have friends and yeah, they will probably miss me, but the difference is that some people are just meant for better things in this world than others and I think it makes more sense to save them than it does to keep someone like me around who isn't ever going to accomplish much of anything. And you, Ant, will be fine. You might think you won't, but you have never been very dependent on me, you have just got used to me being around all the time. But honestly, mate, I was the one who always needed you so if it were to end up this way, well I know that you'll be alright."
