More girl time
Characters: Angie & Alicia
Setting: Ally's place in Wales, 7 pm and on until whenever.
Summary: Angie and Ally both suspect she'll be having another nightmare tonight, so Angie's volunteered to keep her company.
Rating:

Angie felt a bit useless these days and that was not at all a feeling she was accustomed to, nor something she liked. Around her people were suffering and dying and she had not one clue what she could do to help. She was an active person by nature; simply being supportive was not in her nature. However she was not one to sit idly by while a loved one suffered, and that was part of the reason she offered to come by Ally's tonight. Between wanting company in uncertain times, Angie was extremely concerned about her best friend, something she hadn't admitted. If anything happened to her...

No ifs, she told herself, and she's told Ally earlier. Dressed comfortably, with a change of clothes for later, Angie arrived, with Chinese takeaway in hand. She more thumped against the door than knocked, holding everything just a bit awkwardly. She slapped a smile on her face for when Ally opened the door.

Ally'd had a few massage sessions over the course of the afternoon, with the last being a half-hour at 6PM. She'd only just changed into something more comfortable and was about to start putting away her table and equipment when Angie knocked. The moment the door opened, she could smell the chinese food, making her inhale deeply in anticipation.

"Oi, perfect timing. I'm famished." She held the door open till Angie was inside, then closed it behind her. "I was just taking down my setup, but if you want a massage after dinner, I could always leave it up and just change the sheets and towels before we start."

Angie headed inside and set the food down on the nearest flat surface. "I'd say you probably could use a massage more than I could, but I'm too easy. I can't turn down one of your massages." Angie wiggled her fingers at her best friend. "You and your magic fingers.

"But definitely after dinner. I'm half-starved myself. You wanna bother with plates or we can just share out of the containers?" As she asked, she produced a few pairs of wooden chopsticks.

"Unfortunately your fingers aren't anywhere near as magic as mine," Alicia teased. "It's okay, it helps relax me."

In answer to Angie's question, Ally grabbed a container and a pair of chopsticks, then immediately dived in. "Need. Food. Now."

Mmmmm, cantonese noodles with bok choy and sauce and a whole bunch of other stuff that came secondary to her favourite elements. She was now seated cross-legged on her couch, and playfully poked her chopsticks into Angie's container.

"All right, I know I'm going to be interrogated eventually. What do you want to know?"

"Not one of my skills, unfortunately for you," Angie replied airily. "At least it does relax you too." She grinned at Ally's response and did the same, going for some chow mein first. She'd had enough takeaway to be skilled with chopsticks, so she effortlessly twirled noodles around them and started to eat.

She took her time, chewed and swallowed and then answered Ally's question directly. "Well first of all, did you get one of those potions from Michael?" That was the most important questions, one she nearly asked as soon as the door had opened.

She nodded. "It came in earlier, and I've put the bottle next to my bed. I can't wait to try it and see if it'll work. Though with my luck, we won't get nightmares tonight and I'll have taken it for nothing. Though that's not exactly a bad thing."

Meat, she needed some sort of meat. She opened up two more containers until she found some honey garlic spare ribs, then quickly grabbed on up to pop in her mouth.

Angie nodded. "Good. You'll take that before we finally decide to head off to sleep, end of story. If you don't get nightmares tonight, well, maybe that means it worked better than we thought. Or if you weren't going to have one tonight at all, you can always take it again another night and see. Obviously I'd prefer you just not have any nightmares."

Angie stuck with the noodles for the time being, twirling another chopstick-full into her mouth. "All right enough of the doom and gloom. talk to me about George."

At Angie's 'end of story', Alicia rolled her eyes. "Yes, Mum," she teased before taking another bite of food from her chopsticks.

At the mention of George, it was as if she'd suddenly turned sixteen again. She perked up excitedly, tucked her feet under her butt, and grinned like crazy.

"All right, he picks me up at mine with flowers. Flowers from George Weasley! Oh, and I wore that gorgeous pink halter dress of mine with black heels, and some nice lingerie since I was hoping the night would end rather well. So then we went to Ciao Trattoria for dinner. And we talked, and kidded, and the food was so good. Then he took me for ice cream, and we just chatted about silly stuff as we ate..."

She set her food aside, as it was suddenly unimportant. "So he asks me where I see the date going, and instead of answering I just kiss him silly, and next thing I know we're back at his and I'm being introduced to his dog, Gidget, who is the most adorable mutt I've ever seen."

Angie had to laugh at that, and stole a spare rib. She listened as Alicia gushed about George, realising after a moment that any awkwardness was smothered by Alicia's clear happiness.

"Actual flowers? Not ones that made your nose blink bright red when you smell them," she teased. "He must mean business. And apparently so did you, if your outfit was any indication." Not that she could talk. She dressed for what she wanted in a night out when she bumped into Cade as well. "So you stayed over?"

"Actual flowers. In fact, they're right over there," she pointed to a vase on the table in the kitchen that held pink lilies.

"Yes, I stayed over. And had a marvelous time. Twice! And he made me pancakes in the morning..." She let out a small giggle as she leaned her arm against the back of the couch, and her head against her hand.

"Merlin, Ang, I haven't felt like this since I was back at school."

"I'm impressed," Angie replied. She wasn't really one for flowers - get her a good aged scotch or some dark chocolate and she'd be far happier - but what really mattered was the thought behind it.

"He sounds utterly smitten, Als, what did you do to him?" Angie poked Alicia with her elbow laughing as she did. "You haven't looked like that since we were back in school. He's making you goofy happy, and I like it."

What did she do to George? Other than come on to him in the Honeypot and nearly give him a lap dance? "Well, I knocked him off his broom on Sunday. Maybe he's a little off in the head as a result?"

She smiled at Angie's laugh. "I'll tell you the truth: it's a shite time for it, what with the nightmares and all, but he's been the brightest spot I've had in ages. I was getting a little rough on Sunday, worrying about the next nightmare, but then he came along and just... brightened things up." She shrugged. "If he hadn't, I don't think I'd be coping quite as well, you know? Maybe I'd be talking like Lavender did on her journal."

Angie laughed. "That's a good way to get a bloke interested, in my opinions," she replied.

She shrugged one shoulder. "Maybe it's a shite time. Maybe it's the right time." She grimaced, not having meant to rhyme. "I mean folks often come together in dark times, right? And he's really concerned about you. I think both of you could benefit from this. You both seem happier than I've seen you in a while," she added. She snorted though, at the last thing Ally said. "I don't know what to make of Lavender, except she's got to be going through something pretty rough right now. She just sounds...a little nutters." Not that Angie really had much idea beyond what she'd seen in the journals.

She smiled. It was nice to know Angie approved and it in fact wouldn't cause any awkwardness. It also didn't hurt that she felt flush when Angie mentioned George was concerned for her. She, however, grasped onto the new conversation readily, as though she was rather pleased by the recent path her life had taken, she didn't want to be one of those girls who simply spoke of nothing else.

"It can't just be the dreams. I know mine freak me out, and yes, it's horrible and I lose sleep, but she did seem a little overboard. But then, what do I know. Maybe there's something lingering from what happened between her and Greyback." She shuddered, not wanting to imagine what it would be like to be 'touched by a werewolf'. "Though do you think she may have been right about that girl? The one Justin seemed so keen on defending? I haven't seen him act like that before either."

She shrugged and sighed. "Maybe there's no judging. Everyone's a little wacked out now, I guess."

Angie dove back into her noodles. "Maybe. Then again it was just a full moon, right? Maybe it affect her and between that and the nightmares, she's really do doing so well?" Angie had no idea what it was like for Lavender, not actually being a werewolf but still having some strange aftereffects from her attack. It didn't seem the sort of thing she could just go and ask her.

"I dunno though. About that girl I mean. I don't really know her. Justin's usually got some sense - don't tell him I said that - but maybe people can be too loyal. If she's imperiused or something...far as I know she's really quiet, right? Unsuspecting? Who better than someone like that to do something terrible? No one would believe it." She shook her head. "I don't know. It's possible, But I wouldn't go about saying it's true unless I knew it with some certainty."

"Now there I can't agree," Alicia said with a laugh. "Justin isn't anywhere near sensible. Heisn't exactly used to thinking with the head on his shoulders, if you know what I mean. But yeah, they always say it's the quiet ones that you least suspect, and end up being serial killers."

She reached back out for her food and took another bite.

"Maybe I ask if anyone in the DA would want to help me brush up on my defensive spells. I haven't exactly used them in years, and I bet I'm more than a little rusty."

Angelina pursed her lips. "I dunno. I think Justin actually had a lot more sense than he makes it look. There's more to him than he lets on." She shook her head. "All right you really can't tell him I said that. Anyway, I think Lavender may have a point, even if Justin thinks that girl's innocent. The point is we've got no real idea who's behind this so at this point it could be almost anyone." Though Ron would know a bit better. He'd seen Penelope...

"Good idea. We should have some more training sessions. Ron, Neville or Ernie could whip up back into shape. Aurors and Hit wizards have to do that sort of thing frequently, so they're certainly not rusty." At the mention of Auror though, she thought of Cade and went a little red, then cursed herself for warming at the thought of him.

"If I go on thinking it could be anyone, I'll go insane," she admitted. "I'd be living every moment in fear, and I refuse to do that. There has to be another way."

She noticed the flush that appeared on Angie's darker cheeks, but likely only because she'd known her forever and knew her tells. "Somebody's thinking of their hunky Slytherin Auror, aren't they." She winked. "Maybe you should owl him. Ask him to teach us a thing or two? Or at least a little one-on-one training." She playfully poked at Angie's arm with her chopsticks.

"I know. That's exactly why I'm not thinking about it. I'm doing what I can - which includes looking out for you - but I'm not going to get paranoid about it all." Angie shrugged. "Well if anything we can see how these potions work and hope that that helps something. Maybe the DMLE will figure out the murders." Though really Angie wanted to know now. She just had to curb her impatience.

She scowled at Ally when she mentioned Cade. "You lot need to stop referring to him as mine. I shagged him once and haven't so much as talked to him since. I'm sure he's busy enough working these cases. I-" She swatted at the chopstick when she realised how defensive she sounded. "...shut up, that's why," she added lamely.

"If I believed in the whole Divinations thing, I'd say let's drag out a crystal ball and solve the mystery. But yeah, I'd rather leave it to the experts in the DMLE."

She chuckled and waggled her eyebrows knowingly. "And why haven't you talked to him? You said he was a brilliant shag. And ooooh, you're so worried about him and his cases. I think it's lurve." At this last, she leaned her head to the side, lifted her eyes to the ceiling, and fluttered her eyelashes.

Angie's scowl deepened. "You better hope I don't stab you with these chopsticks. I haven't talked to him because brilliant shag or not, he's an irritating prat. If I ran into him again I don't know if the urge to kiss him or hit him would be stronger." She shook her head. "Things is he'd probably like it if I did both." Honestly so would she.

Ally had a point though. Why hadn't Angie actually talked to him again? It wasn't like her to be avoidant. Unless of course you counted the whole George thing. Okay maybe sometimes she was avoidant.

"No wonder you thought he was a good shag," Alicia replied, poking her chopsticks back into her food. "Admit it, you love the whole push/pull thing. I hate you, I love you, I hate you, I love you. Now shut up and shag me already, big boy!"

She snickered. "And you can't watch over me every night, you know. You need to relieve some tension, and I bet he could use something to distract from his caseload. You totally should send him an owl. If he can't handle a woman making the next move, he can feck off."

Angie's face went hot, knowing that Ally was right. Well mostly. She didn't really run hot and cold, but bottom line, she liked her sex rough. Fighting got her as worked up as quidditch did, maybe more, and she knew damn well that was part of the reason she had enjoyed herself so much. "It wasn't like that," she replied, stabbing her chopsticks into her noodles. "And he can definitely handle it if I make the next move," she added. Hell he'd probably smile that stupid wolfish smirk of his...

She grabbed onto the other topic. "I know I can't. But George wouldn't mind doing it, you know. I told you he's concerned about you, right? Well...I think one of us should try to keep an eye on you. We don't want anything happening to you."

"Well good. It's about time you find a bloke who isn't afraid of you."

She nodded in agreement, this being something she wasn't quite adamant about arguing. "I know George wouldn't mind, but I don't want him to see me having the nightmare. If the potion works tonight, though, that won't be an issue." She shrugged. "And to be honest, I don't really want to be alone, what with everything happening. I mean, I don't like the idea of people having to watch out for me, but if this bitch can take on Harry, then I'd have a hard time defending against her alone. Maybe George is right, with enough people fighting back together, maybe we have a chance."

Angie ate another mouthful of noodles instead of answering. Sllyu was right. She needed a man who could keep up with her, who could challenge her, accept the fact that she had a bloody strong personality and not run away. From what she knew of him, from what had happened that night, she knew Cade could be that man.

She set down the container. "I know you don't, but Ally, you can't keep it from him forever. What are you only going to stay with him through the night when you don't think you'll have a nightmare? Show him the door or leave afterwards the other nights? He'll have to seen sooner or later, Als. But anyway we do need to fight back. Soon as we figure out who we're fighting. In the meantime, we can train again."

"Not forever," she conceded. "But Ang, we've only been on one date and shagged once after said date. Hell, we've barely seen hide nore hair of him in five years. I can't put all that on him this soon. Anyway, the potion might work, which means it will no longer be an issue."

She didn't mention that George was already keeping her secret from the Honeypot, and that she didn't want to push her luck too soon. Her eyes flickered to her friend, then to her food. She remembered what Angie and Mel had said about the strip club, and despite George's positive reaction, it hadn't dimmed her worry about her friends finding out.

"Anyway, he's a bloke, he doesn't need to shag me every night. In-between he can go to the Honeypot like all the rest."

Angie sat back, full for the time being. "True. No sense in worrying about it right now, yeah?"

But at what Ally said next Angie laughed. "No offense, Als, but when I get a bloke I want to keep I intend to shag him so often and so well he doesn't need the Honeypot." She grinned broadly at that.

She waved off Angie's words. "Blokes are blokes, which happen to also be pigs most of the time. They all find their way to the Honeypot eventually. I bet your Cade's probably spent quite a bit of time there."

Not that she remembered what he looked like, thus couldn't verify it. But she did tend to remember regulars and those who tipped well. For all she knew, she'd given the guy a lap dance or two.

Wouldn't Ang just love to hear that.

"And yes, I know, he's not 'your' anything. I'm just specifying this one as opposed to some other Cade that might be out there."

Angie shrugged a shoulder. "I'm sure he has in the past. If - and that's a strong if - he's with me in the future though, he won't be needing it," she replied with pure confidence. She hadn't actually even noticed she'd called him hers against until Ally explained herself. Hell she'd even made it sound like she was planning to see him again.

Slightly unsettled by that, Angie stood. "Let's have a drink. Not too much though; don't know if alcohol will affect that potions of yours." She stood up to grab some glasses. "Then we can put on a movie or something until we're tired enough to sleep. Sound good?"

When Angie stood, Ally silently agreed to leave the topic of Cade Warrington. However, that didn't mean she wouldn't bring it up again in the future.

"Sounds perfect," she agreed, standing up as well to stretch out her back. "Let me know if you want that massage when you get back - if we wait till after we've had a few drinks, it may not be as good."

She bent down to pick up an empty container to be put in the trash. "And Ang? Thanks, for coming over."
